  • Win money with Ollie the Kelkoo Octopus

We didn't do so well with the last video advert however we have been offered another great offer, not as good as the last one but if you press play on the video at least once or twice a day untill all 12,000 plays have finished between wearetherangersboys and 31 other websites.

All video plays you make the winner from here will win and if we make over £200 then we'll give 4 people the chance to win £50 each.

All you have to do is click on the link below and press play on the video.

I will update the amount in the Pot below each day and good luck.

    £0.45

      Toni,

Our advertisers want our members to click the video advert, they get money from it I guess.

All plays viewed above is for you the members to win, all 100% of it but do remeber that you don't have to if it's to much trouble for you and to make it fair, please do not enter the competitions.

It wouldn't be fair if we have members that do play the videos and someone who don't that enters and wins.

I have also replied to your post to stop confusion.

        Fair enough.

Your advertisers don't get any money from clicking on the ads as you well know - on the contrary, they have to PAY YOU for every click out of their advertising budgets!

My absolute last post on the subject, a rhetorical question:-

"If you were the boss of one of the companies that advertises (not the media agency, the actual company selling the goods/services), would you be happy that your advertising budget was being blown away by random people on a football site whose only reason for clicking on the ad is to raise money for that site?"

Whether the money goes to charity, competitions or a night in the Springbok for you and Pete is irrelevant. It's not right and you know it.

Toni, I was contacted by email and via the phone to get this up and running. The person on the phone had targets they had to meet and was trying everything so that I displayed the video on this site and to help get more hits. They do have targets because they told me on the phone.

Did you read the reply emails that they sent me, it will answer all your questions.

Everything you see on this website has been seen and read by the advert companies before posting up on here to make sure we were doing everything above board, they seem to be happy and that's good enough for this site.

If there is any problems they have my email and contact number.

Yes of course they have targets! That's why they are telling you to hard sell it to us!

Don't you understand that the advert companies make a profit on this as well?

It's the actual company at the end of the line who is the victim in all this, the company trying to sell their product. They pay the advertising company per click and the advertising company pays you!

People think of it as a victimless crime, but somebody, somewhere (at the originating company) foots the bill. The whole thing is a rip off and you are trying to get us all to be willing participants!

            Words fail me!

The actual company you are talking about are fully aware of what they are doing, I wouldn't advertise my company with another without knowing what they do or how they do it, these companies will be pointed to sites like mine to show that their videos are being shown, they can also see and read the text we have written on here.

Companies wouldn't just sign up with with someone for the sake of it Toni, they set a budget of what ever sum they want until all money runs out, are you saying they don't know what they are doing?

Welcome to the future of online advertising on the Internet.

That's cobblers and you know it.

Are you honestly trying to tell us that the marketing manager at "COMPANY X" is quite happy to have WATRB members multi-click on his advert, costing him money each and every time, with virtually zero chance of making a sale?

No, he'd pull the ad straight away and spend his marketing budget on a more productive audience.

We're not all that thick out here in Internetland you know.

If YOU advertised WATRB on another site, and they pulled the same stunt (telling members to multi-click the ad to raise money for them, massive bill to you with no more traffic on WATRB), would you just say "Oh that's OK"?

So are you telling me that every advert you see on telly or on bill boards you go out and buy?

You are now saying that these companies are not aware which websites there adverts are shown on, are you sure?????

They know how many page impressions, views and how long the video was played for, did you know that?

If I was paying to advertise my brand then I would like to know which sites, how many clicks/views I'm getting and that how it works.

If you browse the Internet you will see that nearly all websites provide video advertising and it's the fasting growning form of advertising, did you know that?

Why do they advertise on telly, posters, Internet... it's every where, but do we want to see it?

I think you should contact these companies and get an answer from them directly, only they know the reasons why they do what they do.

These videos you see are shown on here before you get to see them on TV as well.

In regards to your second post, all companies advertising are fully aware of this and some set limits and others dont. They can pull content away at anytime and activate it when they want, they have the full power to do what they want, it's their advert.

By the way I have done such advertising to try, which I paid per click for each person who clicked on my link. I could tell how many clicks I had and how many per day/month. I also had the power to take it away at any time in case the charges got to much for me.

Yeah all that is fine - no problem at all. All sites carry ads these days - they would not be able to survive otherwise.

If you just put the ads up and left it at that nobody would have a problem, least of all me.

It's the constant sticky threads you put up BEGGING us to click on the ads - and more than that, BEGGING us to multi-click on them, thus ripping off the advertisers.

Can't you see how desperate this is looking to anyone that reads the site?

These companies are providing this service to us which we then pass on to you to view.

This site is doing nothing wrong because everything we do is open for the world to see.

We are not asking members to click on it 24/7, we are saying at least click on it daily, it all adds up and then some lucky person on this website can win cash.

I'm sure everyone who advertises has seen the videos on this site, I've never had any problems so far.

I'm taking advantage of this service and trying to pass it onto the members of this site.

Like I said before they have the power to advertise and then have full stats on every penny they payout, which you seem to think they don't and if that was true, no one would provide video adverts period.

                            There you go again!

Why are you doing that? Why are you telling us to click on the ad? Why? Just put the ad up and stop trying to sell it to us. Every time I see a thread telling me to click on an advert, I think "Why are they so desperate for me to click on this ad?"

It's actually STOPPING people from having a look now.

At the moment we are getting less then 10 clicks per day, what I am saying is that if more people play the videos per day the more money you can win and we can donate.

Once or twice a day is enough, we are not asking you to click on it 24/7.

I thought it would be a good idea for members of this site to work together as a team/fans and then a prize handed out at the end of it.

If I don't post a thread up then you will not know about it and the reason for the thread was to let you all know that we will no longer provide 100% to charity but share 50% between you and our charities. There also seems a problem with the number of plays which is why I wanted to see if this was correct.

Example if we raised £100, we'd give charity £50 and one or two lucky winners £50 or £25 each.

The video on the home page is for members to win, all 100% of it.

If they didn't want people to click on the videos, why are they offering this offer to us?

Video by Kelkoo Octopus, 31 sites all fighting out for 12,000 clicks/plays.

We would like to give you the opportunity to be part of our brand new Ollie the Kelkoo Octopus offer! It's targeting United Kingdom and you can earn £0.05 per targeted view. There are 12000 total views available between you and 31 other publishers, on offer until 23 Dec 2010.
What are we supposed to do, they are offering us to click on the video as many times to generate more money for a fixed fee, once the 12,000 views have gone that's it, this offer is provided by Kelkoo Octopus, not the video company.

Last two weeks they had 40,000 views for the Kelogg's adverts, but we had 79 other websites doing the same. It was over after a few days and we only managed about £6.00 with hardly any views, I put an extra £5.00 in hoping that our members would click to win more.

I'm sorry but all I'm doing is trying to find ways to make this site fun for all of us, ways you can win money, donate to charity and help little towards the site.

Members click on it for a day and then forget about it, it's on going.

At the end of the day it's for the fans and if you don't want us to provide this service to win prizes we can stop it, I thought it was a good idea because everyone enjoys the competitions.
