It softens the blow announcing this when the club is flying high, imagine if this announcement was last year. Amit said on player last season that changes needed to be made and a shame that the changes happened after the jan window.

Nw is no mug, he also said that once someone lies to him he loses trust and respect for that person, let's hope he has not been spun a line here.
Ecclestone isn't Interested and he's a chelsea fan.

Pete we were told on the website in February that the mittal family had become majority shareholders, and you're saying this isn't true. What's going on fella?
Not necessarily no one had a controlling stake the mittals took the larger stake but Flab and Bernie were always able to block vote if necessary. Flab wants out Bernie will buy it, and I guess along with the mittals they will go for it big time and market heavily to india

I assume this explains his recent quote about having little interest but that "having to change soon" (or words to that affect).

Am I alone in never thinking the Mittals had become majority shareholders (i.e 51%+. I thought they had only said that they'd upped their interest and THE BOARD had agreed Flavio took a back seat (with new CEO and Chair to take steam out of increasing dissent amongst fans).

I can only assume someone (major holding) is selling to Ecclestone so let's hope and assume it is Flav. Odd time in business terms, but the seller must either (a) assume the shares are peaked (i.e. we won't go up and they will now decline in value) or (b) they need the money now. I would guess more (b) than (a) as all of them could afford to take a hit.

Could be a (c). Perhaps one of them is fed up being the fall guy and thinks no good can come out of a continued relationship with the club as far as him personally is concerned. Perhaps Flav is trying to fund a return to F1. He can't reallyl sell up on his Billionaires Club assets so easily so maybe just maybe...

Interesting and worrying though. Particularly at a time when we are technically in default to (partly) his (and Amit's) holding company on the loan on the Ground.

You don't have to own 51 percent to be major share holder it depends on what the others own

The term majority shareholder refers to a single shareholder who controls the majority of the share capital ie 51%.

Quite (Rob) - majority = unable for others to block. Major = big. So Majority requires 51%+. This may be the dance of terms the comms from the Board were trying which has confused some.

Isnt that what Stanley75's post said I don't get what you meant by your post as nobody suggested you had to own 51%+ to be a major shareholder?

Briatore wants out and only Bernie's willing to pay the price...that's the way I see it.
Also, I would take what he says in paper with a pinch a salt to be honest.....he said in paper he'd only been a couple of times....well unless he's got a twin brother, he's been to loftus road a many more times. I reckon once formula 1 is over, he'll come along more often. As for the Mittals, I imagine they'll start to splash a bit of cash in the prem

All this news is so disheartening ,I like many thought that the mittals had taken the major share of the club after Flav's bust up with F1 & being fit and proper to run a club.I thought it was the mittals that installed the new chairman? Bernie has shown his distain for the club in recent interveiws saying he was not really interested in Q.P.R. he only got involved because of his friendship with Flav, so why would he want to be the major shareholder other than to sell the club should we be a saleable commoidity if we are promoted. What a mess hope this dosen't affect the team or N.W

The question remains as to whether Bernie's increased shareholding is coming about as a result of:

                                i) Briatore selling up
                                ii) Mittal selling up
                                iii) Both i and ii

I am not concerned if it is i only.

Furthermore, I would not get overly concerned about what Bernie says about QPR etc to the press. The impression I get from his interviews is that he finds talking to the press "a game". He tries to give them a soundbite to go away with and probably laughs when he sees it in print.

There is no doubting he is a money man, but to be fair the guy does make an effort to come along and see us.
