Get us promoted and keep us in the premiership, then he can retire as a QPR legend!!
22nd February away v Charlton is the 40th Anniversary of my support of QPR and my first game. Away v Chelsea 3-3 23rd Feb 1974. 40 years of pure magic!!
Get us promoted and keep us in the premiership, then he can retire as a QPR legend!!
My thoughts also. Get us there, keep us there then when his contract is up he can leave us rideing high and retire down in devon or wherever it is he has a house...
Depends at that point though if he himself can just leave it, never quite worked out for fergie the old retirement game!!..
Yep, promotion and a year in the Premiership. If all goes well wonder if he might be kept on in a director of football type role, particularly if they bring in a younger, perhaps foreign manager.
I was at every game at Loftus Road in our runners up season of 75/76. To claim the 21st century sides of Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea were any better than the likes of QPR, Liverpool, Forest, Leeds, Derby, Villa of the 70's I'd say is highly debatable. The term 'modern game' is purely a semantic one and is essentially meaningless. It was called the modern game back then too and before that also, but I guarantee those sides that dominated Europe back then would have certainly given their modern day counterparts a run for their money.
If Dave Sexton is your yardstick definition of "a great QPR manager" as you put it, then under him we finished premier league runners-up (or Division 1 as it was then called). So in answer to the question, Warnock would obviously have to achieve at least the same (with the necessary funding of course, which we now know exists).
Get us promoted and keep us there then when he wants to retire maybe a director of football and hand pick a new manager to keep us in the prem that he feels will work well for us
