For someone claiming they could be my shrink...Well...

But yeah, that's fine by me mate. We all have our opinions.

      Enjoyed that debate.

I think the stat is very interesting (and agree with BBoy on its interpretation). I'd noticed the issue myself before but here it is in numbers. When he comes off he changes the shape of our goal threat. We are more direct. It unsettles teams. Plus he does fade quite markedly so a substitution gets us back to 11 men.

Personally, I would like to see his "70 minutes" or whatever it is occassionaly used differently. (And 70 has often been too long btw). Like to se him play from the bench and bringing him on to unsettle defences after they've had Hulse/Paddy (Buz when fit) to deal with. This (high impact/change of shape) way of using him would play to his strengths (and noteworthy it was working for Magiliton for a while this time last year.)

P.S I Couldn't agree more about the protective shroud from ANY criticism that some people on here try to put around the lad. Thankfully it is pretty restricted to patrons of these Boards (and often by people who do not attend or see him regularly). If he were as super as all that he (a) wouldn't divide the fan base the way he clearly does and (b) wouldn't be here at all as someone would have paid more than £1m to take him.

Stanley - no one is exempt from criticism, but there is often a quick reaction to the more skillful players when they have an off day.

Creative players often have off games because they try to do more difficult things. If you look at pass completion Steven Gerrard will often have poor stats, but he creates the changes that win games. It is easier to be a grafter who gets stuck in and gives the simple ball every time.

I have been watching Adel and think he has been great and had some off games...struggles to make full 90 minutes at the moment. I also think he is one of only two players in the squad that are capable of playing Champions League football one day and we should cherish that.

When we do sell him, as long as we keep his contract sorted - he will go for a lot more than a million.

It is easy to say that he wasn't on the pitch when we scored late goals - but they were all when we had nowt to lose...and we only got one point.

Let's look at all the 3 points he has won for us this season and judge him by that. If he wins us 3 points every other game - that's better than someone else winning us 1 point in the games in between.

Got to love threads like this... Benny I know the way you are angling it.

Palace we were comfortable and they never looked like scoring but they did and we got away with it with a great goal by HH. I noticed you left out all the games we were winning comfortably like Sheff Utd when he come off and there are others. Taarabt coming off also has nothing to do with his fitness either. I believe NW does it too either a) protect him becasue we are winning and he's thinking of our next game or b) to simply bring on some fresh legs and change things because we are chasing the game. Normally either the DAMAGE is already done (MAINLY BY TAARABT) or NW thinks he rather us lose 3-0 than than not risk going for it. You will find Taarabt will rearly by taken off in the 70th odd minute when the game is 0 - 0.

Creative players on their off day always looked two bob. But on their day they'll have you talking about them for the next week or so. For me Taarabt is worth my season ticket money and a few extra £100 alone. Those that think differently really are on a different planet and until we get promoted to the Premiership it will be a long time before we all see a player of his skill and quality play for QPR.

My mate just text me asking the question, so I thought I'd have a look into it. coincidence, or is this telling us something about Taarabt.

I found it interesting reading, if I'm honest.

This can be summed up easily

Fortunately Warnock feels exactly the same way, which is why after his Bristol nightmare he had a good chat with Adel about it, and to be fair his perofrmances have improved ever since.

Silver - I don't disagree with that. And I should've been clear that I am a fan of the lad. I'm even content to endure some frankly poor performances from him for the occassional spark of flair. Though I admit I have doubts that Adel is Champions League material yet. IMO there are some significant areas of his game he'll need to improve to get there. Like not giving the ball away so cheaply and regularly. Needs to get a better grasp that simple is usually the best approach (no need to showboat a penalty for example.). Stop ALWAYS looking to complicate it with a little trick here and there etc. But the good news is those are easier for him to fix than others would find to achieve his natural ability. I would be happy to se him develop here to be that Champ League player and hope he does.

Dazzer - I can't see that is Warnock's logic in replacing him at all. It makes no sense (if he is, as you say, our super striker) to take him off when we need goals does it? Neil called his performance at Bristol "unacceptable" which is harsh talk in public indeed. But right. He certainly wasn't resting him there and I'm sure that wasn't the sort of "damage already done by him" you had in mind was it? Clearly Warnock replaces him because he is (a) fading, (b) his card is marked by the oppo defence or (c) to try something different. He is taken off routinely, almost irrespective of the result or score line so it seems to me as simple as that.

I can't believe the stick that Benny has come under for bringing up some simple stats.

Taraabt should be able to last 90mins of football. It is however clear that throughout 99% of the games he has played, his 1st half performance is far superior to his 2nd half. In some cases his 1st 20 mins is world class and the other 50mins is sunday league class. I have mentioned that players like Savage and Brown have taken him out of games but yes on his day he is a match winner. If we can't expect a little more from him regarding fitness and consistancy then as a player he won't improve. To say he is a champions league player is definately far fetched.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

In all honesty...I see him playing for a top European side, and gracing that very tournament in the not too distant future.

I should of added at present. Don't get me wrong he has the ability to go all the way but he has much more to add before he gets to that level. He remind me of a young Ronaldo. If he adds goals to his game then he could definately step up a level.

I am guessing, BBoy, you have a certain outfit in West London in mind. The crew that wear the hoops?

And in truth it is probably his best chance. He should do well to remember that and buckle down to the hard work bit a bit more often if he wants to get there.
