  • Best Starting XI in the Championship?

In Warnock's post match interview on Saturday he said that Portsmouth have the best starting XI in the Championship. Do you agree? How many of the 11 below would get in our starting XI?

    Portsmouth
    01 Ashdown
    02 Halford
    03 ****inson
    20 Ward
    25 Sonko
    04 Mokoena
    07 Lawrence
    08 Mullins
    11 Brown
    17 Utaka
    18 Kitson

Missed out Nugent there, but he was injured.

Kitson, Lawerence and Nugent would get into our squad, me thinks.

I'd go with that, but also to add Utaka

Obviously, not all of these at the same time, but the names mentioned are definitely good enough to get into the squad/lineup.

Brown wouldn't be needed. Average player that has done well from being a dirty bar steward. Our midfield is too strong for him to get in and I rate rowlands over brown.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

As many said about Derry. Brown is one of those players who you'd rather have in your side than against...

I understand where u r coming from Ben but I just don't rate him.

Derry is a similar mold but I think Derry is a far better footballer.

Like Robbie Savage, Taarabt will not enjoy this contest. Brown will go right through him and Taarabt will know about it.

I honestly think Tarbs will struggle tomorrow.

I hope I'm wrong, but it's on the cards.

For me, Savage is the best of the three in that position. Very tidy footballer, who goes in hard and is also the biggest irritant on the pitch.

If we gain promotion I think Nugent would be a decent signing.

Agree Tarbs won't have much time on the ball.

Miles better than us up top (on paper at least) as Kitson and Nugent alone must be getting on for £4m quids worth of striker, but everywhere else on the pitch I think we stand very decent comparison.

I'd have our entire back five over everyone of theirs.

Mullins and Brown or Faurlin and Derry? I'd rather have Faurlin than either Brown or Mullins in the centre of midfield. As for Derry - on current form I'd have him over the other two but Mullins given his age would be a better long term prospect.

Kitson and Nugent granted are better than Helguson and Hulse but given the system we play I wouldn't choose Utaka over Mackie, Smith or Taraabt and only one of Kitson and Nugent would get in the side ahead of H or H. Would we revert to 4-4-2 if we had both players? If so I'd have both but this would probably mean that Smith/Ephraim or Mackie would have to be dropped with Taraabt playing on the other wing. That or remove the defensive cover by dropping either Faurlin or Derry. If we did that defensively we wouldn't be as strong and we'd lose some of the creativity to get the ball to the front two anyway.

Well maybe Derry can slap Brown into place. Dave webb used to look after Bowles when the likes of Kenny Burns & Ron Harris were trying to kick him up in the air.

I reckon that Tommy Smith geezer they've got would be a good addition to our starting XI..... oh.... wait.... hang on a mo.

So can the lad play against them or not? I'm just in from work and haven't a clue.
If he can then I'm getting on him to score anytime in the 90.

Settle for a draw tomorrow but 3 points really would be lixir from the Gods and Warnock..
I need some time in the sunshine, I gotta slow it right down.
