Average hardly describes a team in second place, still undefeated, with the second highest goals for and an unbelievably good defensive record, does it?
We're just lacking a bit of winning form, not good form as we are still not losing. We deserved all 3 points at Brizzle, and again this week IMHO. We are just not getting the rub of the green at this moment in time, which is unusual for a team at the top as they usually get decissions going their way, just like Baahdiff. Warnocks teams often get penalised, and he's never let it stop him acceiving results and getting the best out of his players.
Some fans, including your good self, slagged the signings of players like Derry and Hill who have proven you wrong, yet there are still ways in which some fans can find a way of knocking us as a team. God only knows what you'd all be saying if we were languishing in 10th-16th place where all the 'average' sides would sit?! I'd hate to think how much the fans would turn if we'd already lost just once this season?!
And no...This isn't a pop at you, nor any other fan who can over react by labeling us as 'average'. Nor is it a dig at those who seem to find any excuse to lambast a side currently sitting in the automatic promotion spot...A million miles from where many of you predicted we'd be.
What I also find sad (and this isn't aimed at you) is the way some posters, ie. Matthew/RebelRs can be happy to start 'I told you so' threads such as 'Anyone still happy with our "unbeaten run"?'
...Well in answer to that...Yes...I'm absolutely over the moon that we've broken a record stretching back to when my Dad wasn't even a twinkle in his fathers eyes.
Honestly...I struggle to find a negative to our start to the season. With pre-season predictions stating we'll be lucky to finish in the top half, let alone top two, I find it truely amazing that there is still ammunition to fire at us. Now all of a sudden, those very same fans are moaning that we're not winning every week. How the hell has that worked out?!
By the way I WAS delighted with the start we made, really was but that was when we were firing on all cylinders and scoring and winning games,as I said that was a very happy period.

that was adrenalin. mackie was never going to keep up his brilliant goal scoring record, and we were never going to get a penalty every game so that helguson could look like he can score (its getting them against us instead now).
things have all settled down now, and we are as good as everyone else from us down, but we need to get winning every other game instead of drawing them all, otherwise we are in that horrible lottery, and going by our history of luck we would do what we did against oxford and spurs and screw it up.
Its our negative approach for home games that worries me. Playing faurlin and derry in the centre of midfield is far to defensive minded. We should be looking at winning games and creating chances. I felt very pi ssed off and bored watching us sat.

Unbeaten, and in second.
Keep it up lads...
Absolutely spot on mate and a contender for post of the month. Yes the performances have dipped a little, but not as much as some would say. And yes the goals seem a little harder to come by. But did people realy think we were going to go through the season caning sides week in week out? To be honest I wish we had lost one then we could put all this undefeated run sh*t to bed. We are easily one of the best 3/4 teams in this league and deffinately not average. We are unbeaten and 2nd in the league, 4 points clear of 3rd and 9 points clear of 7th. These are the facts of our situation. At the end of July before a ball was kicked, would we have taken that? You bet your #### we would have. And IMHO, come the end of the season we will be in the melting pot for a place in the premiership. So tomorrow lets have the ground buzzing and make Reading wish they had stayed at home.
