  • Question for our more mature fans

Who will admit to having a scarf usually silk tied around their wrist or sometimes both wrists many years ago at a QPR game?

I confess I was one of them and no it was not a ##### thing then :shy:

    Yes I did. Both wrists.

Till a Leicester "yoof" nicked one.

Sounds daft now but at the time I did not consider myself hard enough to do that! My "silky" remained draped on my head board instead.

Not sure if I did, likely though.
I had one of those silk scarves on my bedroom wall for years, my dad bought me it in 1973 at a game he took me to, kept it well into my adult years and still probably have it in my loft somewhere.

Either round the wrist or through the belt loops. It used to be fun either nicking a scarf or getting yours nicked.

multiples silky super hoops with the white tassle loops tended to be 2 on the right wrist rather than one on each. but then I was a style leader in those days

One round each wrist, and, yes, one through the loop of my (flared) jeans.
We must have looked like the well 'ard version of the Bay City Rollers.

The reason I became an Ranger aged 10...

was coz the new neighbour gave me two yes TWO R's silk scarves... 1976.. one was white with blue writing and one was blue with white writing....

still in my loft amongst other R's memorabilia.. remember thinking I was really cool with them tied round my writs but probably looked a complete chump....

well i reckon we looked a lot better than the lumps that used to turn up from places like Derby and Middlesborough with their steel toecap boots and donkey jackets

we had a certain je ne sais quoi
I did also wear a thin tartan scarf for a while along with the hoo[s but i like to think it was more rod stewart than woody!

We played the Ars at home in 75 i was 11 years old with 2 silk scarfs around my wrists walking down the bush and this big black lad around 18 smacked me straight in the gob called me a rangers shi t it was my first match going by myself, i told my mum i fell over, next season standing in the loft, i used to queue up at 1.00 to make sure i could stand by the front. a west ham fan pushed a knife in my back and said he would stab me if i didn't give him my scarf
which i did shi tting myself. i wish i could meet them now!!!!! never wore a silk scarf again.
