  • No wonder we never sing at home...

If this board is a reresentation of our home support then it's no wonder Loftus Road is like a library for the most part.

Where's the belief and passion? Why do so many 'fans' put down our team and our chances of success? FFS get believing and get behind our boys. Don't ever accept defeat and roll over by saying that the Cardiff sc um will walk all over us.

Support the club whenever you can. There is no evidence to suggest that we cant win the league so, to all you 'glass half empty' merchants...

    Support your team!

I think the difficulty is that we had our hopes raised last season early on, only to be fighting a relegation battle in the Spring. People are just waiting for it all to go #### up again.

I was disappointed with the support at the Norwich game -- X block has sung A LOT this season, but was dead quiet. A few people tried to get songs going, which I tried to join in with, but hardly anyone joined in with them. It wasn't that the game started off noisy and then went quiet because we didn't do as well as people thought we would --the noise never ever got going in the first place.

One notable incident as well...a couple with three children were sitting near Dan, and they left partway through the second half, with the woman saying that a few (hardly any, it was totally mute) people swearing was a terrible example to children. What did they expect at a football match?
Dan pointed out that the other end was better, as it was the family stand, but this family, like quite a few we've seen in X block recently, clearly had no idea what to expect and clearly aren't going to contribute to atmosphere.

Those of us who are regulars -- we need to be making a LOT more noise. Our next two home games are fairly on a par with the Norwich game, and we might be the difference between a 0-0 and a 3-0 -- if we score once we'll score again and again. Getting that first goal is so important right now; we need to try and lift our team instead of moaning when things don't happen.

Swanley, normally agree with your posts but I'm not sure that is a "notable" incident. We should be welcoming new supporters with open arms. A packed Loftus Road has been too infrequent in recent years (in fact in ages!). A family who either hasn't come or comes infrequently is not going to start singing songs off their own bat. You say normally X block is rocking....so what were the regulars doing? Not there? Or decided, not singing in front of these lot? The atmosphere should stem from the regulars and then these new fans will get caught up in it and join in.

It was notable for the fact that, we are going to get new fans who are not going to sing, so the rest of x block should have been making more noise -- which didn't happen.
That's what I couldn't understand, as X block have been loud this season (louder than I thought it would be) - there was almost a feeling of "job done"/complacency -- as if singing wasn't needed to win.
My concern as well was, why don't the box office direct families away from X block (which may well get heated, due to its proximity to the away end) and into the Lower loft instead, which was actually the last area to sell out? The Sun offer is all very well in filling seats, but can the club not accept those vouchers, where children are involved, for tickets in the Lower Loft?
That family will probably not return -- there's no point attracting people with offers and then putting them in the wrong parts of the ground.

I always thought that was the family end?......well that's what my Dad told me when he took me there in early 90s.

X block isn't -- it was in early 90's, but not now.
Think there were a lot of people in there with kids because of the Sun offer -- but, like I said, if there are kids, why not allow those families to use the Sun vouchers for Lower Loft tickets, which IS the family area?

V mute against Norwich - if its the same against Burnley then unless we score a very early goal I can see a repeat situation ie no win. Which wd be a real wasted opportunity with their loss of form - far more worrying for them than anything we are going through - and our need for three points after a series of draws.

the support home and away for me has been abit dire as of late.

norwich was a graveyard.. millwall wasnt much cop.. and even bristol city away people was content to sit down and cheer the team on.

no i dont go to every away game but if you want a fanbase to generate noise to create atmosphere then you need your fans on their feet singing. without criticising anybody.. that just doesnt happen anymore.

last 3 games ive been too:
                  millwall, palace and bristol city.

millwall - sat in S block because there wasnt enough seats for my group in R block, where we normally sit(stand). now being so close to the R block ud expect us to hear QPR fans over the millwall but that wasnt the case.. not for lack of trying but for lack of numbers.. if only 3 blocks in the whole stadium are vocal your always going to be outsung by a whole stand. (i expect same happened at norwich)

crystal palace - returning to selhurst after my last visit last season where the atmosphere was booming. last time round all i saw was a entire stand standing and singing.. so after looking at my ticket and seeing row 22 im thinking that we'd be standing and singing. however this wasnt the case.. before the kickoff i was being prodded in the back to sit down.. i mean they was still announcing the lineups and i was being told to sit down by person behind me. i was annoyed that at least half the stand was sitting and well not getting behind the team as they should. after half time i moved to the back of the stand where the atmosphere was a night and day difference.

bristol city away - more recently.. i looked at my ticket saw we could sit/stand whereever and after reading that bristol city was a good away day(for the atmosphere) i was expecting big things. sadly this was not the case. i decided to stand 2nd row from the back nearer to the bristol city fans(singing ones). their support for their if you like hardcore fans was fantastic and to an extent we was vocal aswell. but you just saw about 5-10 rows of fans maximum singing for rangers.. everybody else was just happy to sit there n watch, which their entitled to do, however the topic is about support and our fans being more vocal.

overall i dont blame anybody for the demise of our "atmosphere" i used to really look forward to going loftus road because fans would generate such a atmosphere but nowadays its nothing.. even when winning its just not the same. have the prawn sandwich brigade moved in already? i expect so. will i get told to join a choir if all i want to do is stand and sing? likely.. but lets be honest if millwall fans(all being animals they are) have what 3 thousand for an away game all standing.. then why cant we when we have away days?

i dont know the answer but the way we are going, we'll end up having same atmosphere as watford.

The atmosphere at away games is generally better than home games.
Personally, I often enjoy the awaydays more, for that reason alone.

I know exactly where your coming from Ric Roc
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Not a male chauvinist or anything but the sight of a woman bellowing out football chants / songs with a load of geezers is veryyyy off putting.

And before the Mary Whitehouse brigade get their giant bloomers in a twist & ask me the impending question 'should women just sit there quietly watching the game then'

The answer is yes. They should.

i agree, however after palace and bristol city that says quite abit for how poor loftus road's atmosphere is atm.
