you see thats the interesting thing now. warnock stated start of season we'd be a 6th placed team. our fans would have cut off their right arm for a playoff place and now we're expecting us to go up automatically.

we need to grind out results.. we also do need to change our method of attack.

The following is not the problem.
      -------------- Kenny --------------
      Walker - Connolly - Gorkks - Hill
      ------ Faurlin ------ Derry ------

      The following is the problem.
      Mackie - Taarabt - Hogan
      ------------ HH -----------

I also don’t think we’ll finish top at the end of the season, and I’m not even sure we’ll finish second, and this thought doesn’t bother or worry or distress me greatly and I won’t cry and gnash and demand changes and action if we do lose a few and drop down to fifth or sixth because it’s much more than I thought we’d be able to manage. At the start of the season I didn’t even think we’d make the play offs so I have been absolutely delighted with everything I have seen so far

thats you mate, thats your opinion, not finishing second does worry and distress some of us greatly, cos loads of us did and still do expect to go up as automatic, and many more did expect us to make the play offs at the very least seeing as we have one of the best managers in the league and a great team.
        epic fail.

Bleurgh people who type epic fail or say it in real life make my spine shivver. So unoriginal. Just felt I had to say that.

agree to an extent. the keeper/defence/holding midfielders i agree have been solid as a rock this season.
we do need to bolster our attack but i wouldnt count mackie or taarabt in that problem bit. mackie has 8 goals to his name already (the same amount he scored last season) and he will score more. ok he hasnt scored in a couple of games but he definitely will find his good form again. taarabt, bar a couple of lousy performances, has been exceptional. helguson has 5 so far, but 3 (correct me if im wrong) have been penalties. hogan started well, and has been decent in the last few games, but i would say he is starting to go back to his old last season form. both of these i think need stiff competition to keep them on their toes imo.

            Ebere Eze - 4
            Joel Lynch - 3
            Tomer Hemed - 3
            Toni Leistner - 2
            Massimo Luongo- 2
            Angel Rangel - 2

            Geoff Cameron - 1
            Aramide Oteh - 1

Paul Mason a quick question : I know points wise one win and one defeat is better than two draws but when talking abouth the merits of remaining unbeaten what do you suggest when we are 1-0 down at Brizzle with a few mins left (or 2-0 down in stoppage time at Derby) we think F8ck it lets lose this as we'll win saturday and that'll be better ? It don't work like that IMO

                Quick Comparison
v Palace: Mackie passing the ball for Taarabt to score.
v Bristol: Taarabt not passing the ball to Mackie to have a shot.

The way I see it is Mackie is making the runs and getting into the positions, but it appears the balls are not finding him when he is in those positions and IMO, Taarabt, Hogan and HH have run our of steam.

                I would like to see.
                -- Smith -- Buzz -- Mackie --

                  ??

I dont get your point but I made a similar point the other day that Taarabt was not on the field when we scored the last gasp goals at Derby and on Friday against Bristol, so maybe we would not be as screwed if he was not playing through injury, suspension or because of changes.

If the team are playing well and we go 0-1 down, I can not see anybody moaning because that's life and people accept that. The time the I can see the moaning starting though will be when we go 0-1 down, not playing well and nothing is done to change the system, for whatever reason, which is the same for any other club in the world. (But I guess as its QPR, that would not be allowed)
Isuppose Paul it's how high you set your bar.

Over the past 3-4-5 season, our football has not really been that good.We have had more managers at the club than i have had decent nights out.Our off the field drama's could win a Bafta ahead of easteneders and Coro.

At the start of this season, with the signings of Derry and Hill and the lack of strikers being linked, I caanot honestly say that I was expecting that much.

I agree with Clive,we have agood team but not a great team.I do believe that our forward line still needs addressing and that we should continue to strengthen our squad when we can ( IE the Swindon defender link).

I don't expect us to go the whole season un beaten and I also don't expect us to finish in the automatic promotion places, but would be more than happy if we did.

But what I do see, is improvement on the pitch.I see improvement off the pitch.Somthing that has been missing from QPR for years.

When we do lose, then another side of QPR might be seen. How we react from a defeat....Because so far this season, I have seen us grab a result when in previous years, it would not have happened.

Im not negative and i want to see QPR succeed as a club on and off the pitch, but, maybe because im getting older and grumpier,my expectations of QPR and life...are not that high.

For the time being I'm more than happy with our progress, but I think my bar is much lower than others !!

So the fact we are unbeaten and have a new club record is fantastic, but every one knows it would is better to win one then looses one, compared to drawing both.

PS: I have a great deal of respect for Clive and his mag is tops, but just because you write something that reads nice and positive, does not make it correct.
It's all about context. I'll give you an example of why:

44 matches played and QPR and Swansea are both on 80 points lying 2nd & 3rd and have to play each other in the next match. A draw for both sides means that going into the final game their fate is in their own hands. However if QPR were to lose, Swansea would be 3 points ahead of QPR needing just a draw to go up in the final game. QPR win the final match but although they've achieved 3 points instead of 2 Swansea go up with a draw in the final match.

2 seasons ago Cardiff played Preston and Burnley near the end of the season winning one and losing the other. By losing to Preston it screwed their goal difference up but it gave them 2 extra points which was enough for Preston to finish above them and knock them out of the play off position.

                            Spencer very good post.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Absolutely right, whats that messageboard he's on again?

Bang on about expectations, I think most Rangers fans would've bitten your hand off for a playoff place at 2-55pm on August 6th, but 2 hours later that might not have been the case.

very true this. win the next two and it will be back to the best rangers side in eons and everyone will be high on expectations of automatic again.

and it is very do-able as well.
