Rebel as Spencer said Villa purchased Downing when he had a broken leg!

Personally I think clubs at times buy players when injured because they no when fit they can deliver the goods. Can only imagine this is the case.

Disappointing though to not have seen him fit & ready 2 months after buying him.

Thought it was common knowledge he was injured when we bought him but will still be a great asset to the team when fit

Who would the ones moanng drop by the way so he could play if fit?

Helguson will pick up an injury at some stage and who do we play in that role then?

Was told that's why we got him so cheap, as Derby needed to sell.

THink its a fair question, would suspect NW having worked with the player thinks its worth the gamble and don't think we will actually have to wait long for him to be honest.

Good question. I imagine the seriousness of the injury was under-estimated. There were lots of rumours about him playing against us that weekend if you recall. And there was, let's not forget, possibly a bit of panic going on with the window closure looming. Hulse clearly wasn't plan A and there wasn't much time left after Plan A (which seems to have been Walters) fell thru. I think in those circs Warnock was prepared to take more of a risk than he might otherwise have done and there wasn't time to wait and see. We are very lucky he hasn't been desperately needed. Rewind and who would of seen HH and Dave as ahead of him even if fit!

Opposite has happened to Smith of course. He must've thought he was more or less walking into a starting place but is struggling to get any significant playing time.

Cant believe some people are still questioning Warnocks signings, I would never do that. Though imagine we were mid table and Sousa/Magilton had signed an injured Hulse, you lot would be going mental.
