  • Is This Team As Good As Newcastle or WBA last Season?

I know we have a great record so far, but cannot help feeling especially Newcastle United would not get teams getting so many chances against them. Admittedly, we have only conceded 3 games but its been last ditch tackles, hit posts or great saves from Paddy Kenny.

Our work rate is fantastic and everyoen puts it in, but how do we compare with last season promoted teams?

At same stage as last season we are better BUT!

I think the Division is weaker this year and I don't think we are as strong as those two were over the whole season due to squad depth.
It's still early doors in my book and your question can only be answered properly after 42 games.

What Warnock has done in a short space of time is amazing -- just imagine what we could've achieved if a proper football man had been put in charge and given a free reign after the Magilton fiasco OR had control of the budget that's been punked up the wall over previous 3 or 4 years.

Now if Hulse can be an Andy Carroll we are in business..........
I need some time in the sunshine, I gotta slow it right down.

We've got off to a terrific start and deserve to be top. I don't think we are as strong as the other two based on our struggles over the last 3 games. As Pete said there has been a lot of graft, heroic feats and luck. I think we can and will get stronger.

Stronger than WBA but a long way off Newcastle. At some stage we'll lose three or four on the trot, NW will resort to long ball and we the fans will be moaning big time!!
22nd February away v Charlton is the 40th Anniversary of my support of QPR and my first game. Away v Chelsea 3-3 23rd Feb 1974. 40 years of pure magic!!

Ask that question again when Faurlin returns, if he comes back in the same form and we play the way we were doing when he was in the side before he got injured then imo we are just as good if not better.

Well we went to STJ and outplayed them and should have beaten them - that and the home game with them were the only times I watched them last season - so for this stage of the season, based on what I've seen I would say we are doing ok.

I think we are arguably stronger , if you look at what our bench could be if everyone is fully fit..
Cerny, Hall, Buzsaky, Hulse, Smith, Rowlands, thats a pretty strong bench, think only Newcastle had that type of bench.

If we beat Norwich and Burnley at home then i would say we are pretty damn close.

They are 2 teams i think will be up there at the end.

Didn't we take 4 points off WBA last year (I can't honestly remeber)? I rember draw at St.James Park and having 10 men against them at LR and losing 0-1 in a "dead rubber". On balance I think we're at least on a par with them and they have rookie managers who will crumble when going gets tough. Can't see that NW will allow us to lose even 2 on the spin... I think any blip will purely amount to a couple of draws and a single loss.
Anyway, so what? It's how we shape up against this year's crop that matters.
