  • Once Mallaya buys the shares

Will anyone here look back and give Flav a mild thank you for what he has done.

Yes he changed our badge, yes he took our club from us for a time, yes he made many many mistakes which not only divided, but at times imploded our fan base, even stopping regular loyal fans from seeing the club they love.

When I look back I think in his defence, Flav was badly advised.
Now whether this was Paladini, or another outside influence I dont know.

Flav had NO idea how a football club has an emotional link with its supporters and therin lied the problem.

For all his mistakes, he has developed the ground, and VIP areas for Amit and Mr Mittal are now superb, ready for the premiership, he has signed up some fantastic sponsorship for the club, some massive PLC companies whom will become even more fruitful for us if we reached the promised land, whatever people say, he has projected QPR back into the limelight and we are now on the papers as an interest rather than a one column match report.

Dont get me wrong, I cannot wait till our board and main men consist of Ishan, Amit, Mr Mittal and Mr Mallaya, and Flav and Bernie have gone for good, but I will always have a small part of me that is grateful for Flavio for not only saving us in the 1st place but everything else that he has done.

Really good post and I agree, we fans do have to thank him & Bernie for putting this club in the limelight again.

Let's wait and see what happens from here.

flav brought both world wide recognition and the circus to our club......he gets a thankyou for inviting the wealthy backers into our boardroom but he is proof that egomaniacs dont make good football club owners.......the badge change was his first major boob imho and the cclub/boutique rubbish alienated the true fans and made us a laughing stock.....the managerial revolving door made us look like clowns and whilst ive a certain sympathy for the bloke his leaving wont give me sleepless night..........averederci!

Eternally grateful for the January transfer window purchases in 2008,shame its taken till now to finally push on.
As for putting us in the limelight that was mainly bad press, ticket prices, boardroom interference and so on.

In fact the boards actions back then made us a laughing stock although we are slowly getting some credibilty back.

Agree with most of that. Without Flavio, there would be no Mittels that is for sure. Rich men know other rich men. But don't agree he was badly advised, particularly. Think the problem was more that he was unadvisable - he did whatever he wanted, even if it was barking mad (eg "selecting" 13 players for a match). Many thanks Flavio, now go and enjoy a well earned retirement at your club, Billionaire, working on that celebrated physique of yours and enjoying the close attentions of Mrs Briatore...

agree to an extent. i would thank him for the fact that his investment saved QPR. and i would thank him for bringing in the sponsors and money men to boost the clubs financial security.
but he made the club a laughing stock and i will be glad to see the back of him.

Badly advised by who? the way i see it was flavio always thought he knew best. Sir Alex even supposedly gave him some advice about backing the manager, Advice which was ignored by flavio. As far as im concerned if he thought he knew better than Sir Alex then the man didn't deserve success. It just shows how big his ego was.

The sponsorship is as good as useless unless we reach the premier league and still the Mittals looked to bring in extra sponsorship which was rejected by flavio. Is this because he didn't want anyone else playing with his new toy? ego again?

I hardly see a lick of paint and a new screen as developing the ground. Ok he changed the boxes and directors box. All which went largely unused. Our ground is far from premier standard.

He only projected us back into the limelight because he made us a laughing stock. Sacking manager after manager and raising ticket prices (with help from the smug ali russel) Its going to take us a long time to lose that tag but hopefully the mittals will change this.

He did things completely the wrong way. He let Ali Russel loose on the club while he didn't take the advice of a footballing legend. He very nearly ruined our club and i bet if you asked him today he still would think he was right and we are all wrong.

Sorry but he gets no thanks from me.

                          Good Post Jeffro.

I wonder exactly what if any, changes we will see with regards to the stadia, will there be a restructuring of the pricing, is their a possibility we could get the old badge back, even Jude to make a return.
Are we to be a money no object club (like Man City), and buy in players willy nilly or will Neil Warnock continue with his player quality over price, will LR get a makeover or will we be moving to a purpose built stadium.
Whatever it is i hope they think of the fans as we are the ones that matter more than anything else.

Briatore alienated many fans by forcing them to move season tickets from an area that they'd been sitting for years.

He further alienated supporters by imposing huge ticket increases and drove away many core supporters with his idea of a boutique club. He divided our support to a point that many will never return.

Briatore held fans in such contempt as to question their value and merit to the club, with his statement about the worth of somebody who only pays £20. Little did he know about those fans true 'worth' to his 'project'

Briatore introduced Ecclestone to the club. Ecclestone is on record as having stated he hopes QPR don't reach the premier league.

Ive got no reason whatsoever to thank the despicable turd that is Briatore. Good riddance. Don't ever come back to Loftus Road.

the thing I did not like about Flavio was changing managers every two seconds, good ones, too, and calling from the Malaysian Grand Prix at halftime to tell Paulo or whoever to put such and such player on for the second half, that is interference, and is bound to upset managers. Who would want to work at QPR? People like Brian Clough and Martin O' Neil would have walked out in two weeks. The guy was a cheat and an interfering, ignorant Italian.
