No comparison to the great teams. Such an obvious answer - It's better than those that sent us down further in the league heirarchy, and looking better than those that have hitherto have failed to get us out of CCC.

You might be able to posit "are they better man for man than the 82/3 team that last took us back to the top flight" but tbh that is a bit of a silly question as well. Time has moved on (Chelsea almost got relegated from Div 2 that same year for example) But if you want to play the game, a reminder.....

                  Hucker
                  Neill
                  Dawes
                  Waddock/Wicks
                  Hazell
                  Fenwick
                  Micklewhite
                  Sealey
                  Allen
                  Stainrod/Flanagan
                  Gregory

And my answer - no - the team above were a better team for their day than the current crop.

Not even close. They're doing great, but they're not a great team.

As mentioned, it's early days! I think the fairest comparison is to that 82-83 team that won promotion, they had a brilliant home record! Opponents always blamed the plastic pitch for giving us an unfair advantage!

Against the mid 70' team - no comparison

Against mid 90's team - no comparison

Against our last Prem team (that got relagated) - possibly on a par

Against the team that got relagated to 3rd tier - much better

Against team that got promoted to Championship - better

                          Prospects - looking good
I blew a lot on vodka and tonic, gambling and fags. Looking back, I think I overdid it on the tonic. - The one and only Stanley Bowles

the 82/83 promotion team was better imho....the current team has the chance to match it but i say this is the weakest championship in years!!!
