are said to be from Venus, but it struck me yesterday that fans of different teams have equally incompatible views of the world. As stated my brother and I drove up with a couple of Palace season ticket holders and talking about the game in the pub afterwards it was as if we had been to see a different game.
(It wasn't helped, I admit, that just before we met them after the game I said to my brother "be gracious, remember what its like to lose in the last minute, we've been there often enough" but as soon as we saw their little Palace faces we couldn't help but break out into a spontaneous rendition of "that's why we're top of the league").
Anyway, they said they couldn't even hear our support (hard to believe as it was incredibly loud where we were as shown on the TV highlights) and were surprised how few of us there were. Also said we hadn't looked nearly as good as Burnley when they had come to Selhurst (even tho' they had only drawn). Said if it wasn't for our two "big lumps" of centre halves we would have lost easily. One grudgingly said Derry had been "alright" but was essentially "just a fetch and carry merchant" when to me he ran the show and did the job of two or three men tackling in midfield. Said we won because we were "big and strong" (a team that includes Tabs, Buz and Hogan). And so on. No recognition of how we ran the show, looked a different league to them in the passing stakes, how brilliant players like Walker looked in comparison to their muppets.
But then maybe our perspectives are equally biased. Yet I'm still buzzing - my brother and I both thought that was one of the best games we had been to in ages (in terms of excitement, atmosphere, competiveness etc).
