  • The reach of WATRB...

Just wandered out of the house this morning and the postie drew up and said: "Hi stainrodisalegend, goto the match last night then?" I'd never met the guy before but apparently he is a regular reader and occasional poster (nice bloke too). I live as near to the middle of nowehere as is possible in SE England these days down a long rough track. He apparently worked out who I was because of letters I'd received from QPR and saw the "Chiddingstone" line at the top of my posts. We had a good chat about the Rs and agreed we didn't like the desperate long balls towards the end of last night's game. If that weren't enough, my nearest neighbour on our lane turns out to be a life long R too.

I've met lots of Rs fans abroad over the years but I've never met anyone before specifically from this site away from the ground. Anyone else had a similar experience?

I am the only QPR supporter I've ever met , consequently , I talk to myself a lot. Over here in Malaysia it's all Liverpool, Man U, Arsenal and all the newbie Chelsea fans, that's okay, everyone knows me as the only Ranger in the country, I am dictator for life of the QPR Fan Club! Membership, 1, I tell you what, my stoke and southampton and leeds buddies are extremely jealous. what goes around comes around, and this time, we are coming around.

I bumped into QPR James whilst on holiday in Portugal last year. Twas the night of the Champions League final (when Man U got done by Barca) and we were just wandering along the quay side and found the Hoops shirts, introduced ourselves, had a chat and hey presto - I beleive he was a Mod at the time and seemed to know me by log in name! Decent fella, as was his old man and it was the first chance I had to prove to my young lad that where ever you go in the world, the R's are there to be found

My postie also knows about the addiction to Rangers and we chat most days about stuff - mind you he is a Wall fan and I'm not talking to him today.

Every time I bump into Pete in O'Donaghues - like last Saturday - he always looks at me like I'm some sort of nutter.

Not in the same vein but I went to a home game in 2002 and sat next to a great guy who I got on with like a house on fire. We said hi to Ian Gillard at H/T and I shared with this guy memories from the 1975/76 season (we were both similiar age so went to a few games that seaon).

At the end of the game he said "Look ive got a long drive ahead of me down to Kent, fancy a pint before I head of" I declined saying I had to start making my way home.

"Don't worry" he says "I can drop you off somewhere to make it easier, where do you live"

"Perth, Western Australia, Im on my way to Heathrow to catch my flight tonight"

In Sharm this year I saw the only other hoops shirt on some lad about 9 - 10 and promptly shouted U RRRS as I caught up to him and his dad I noticed the boy had Chelsea flip flops on, as it happens the top was his dads as the boy supports Chelsea.

What did they do Pete? Punch you in the face for making up all these rumours?
