  • Jay Simpson, still not scored vs Jamie on 8.

Hasn't scored for Hull yet in 8 games. Signed at the start of the season for don't know how much, but I bet it was more than our Jamie Mackie cost.

I think we had a lucky escape there, clearly NW didn't agree with his value, and quite rightly we got shot of one of the far too many loanees.

Scored 13 for us last year, but always struck me as being lazy, uninterested, and lacking passion. Just because you have a tag on your ear which says 'Arsenal academy' doesn't mean pro football is an easy ride, and he didn't strike me as a future star at all.

simpson was a decent player and still is.. but like mackie needs to be played in a certain team with a certain formation.

play mackie in a 4-4-2 and he will be less effective.

simpson was good for us because we had routledge, buzsaky and taarabt feeding him with through balls and crosses. i assume hull at feeding him long balls or knock downs which he is less likely to get onto.

I think Hull signed Simpson permanant. £3 million if i`m not mistaken. Might have mis heard that though.

I see Beckford is struggling for goals as well at Everton.

          Simpson lazy?

He played most games as a lone striker, often with little support from others. He had no one to win aerial balls for him, yet Hart and Harford n their 13 games insisted on hitting long high balls towards him.

Even when Warnock took over, he had little help and a lot of high balls to try and win. It isn't easy winning headers against 6ft 3 defenders when you are 5ft 8, as he had to try and do against centre halves like Leacock, Evett, Morgan, Delaney, Ingimarsson etc
