  • Let's Get One Thing Straight (Re: Donny match)

I was at the game, and Doncaster did give us a tough time of it.

However, reading the newspaper reports and O'Driscoll's and Oster's post match comments, is quite irritating.

Yes, Doncaster were a match for us for most of the game, but when it comes down to it, we were the better team - both defensively and in front of goal. We won the battles and we won the match.

I just wanted to get that off my chest.

    Be nice to Minty

Agree with Minty they looked good gave us a run for our money but we were superior in the defensive third and the attacking third therefore worthy of our win , despite what O'driscoll might think.

I thought we definately lost the midfield battle but we had the quality in the final 3rd. This season our goal ratio is very good. We are taking our chances which is important. As for tomorrow nights game. Well IMHO although against donny it was a great result, 2 many players were off it and not playing nowhere near how they have been. We need our big players to perform against what will be a spirited millwall side. Hogan, Adel, Derry were 3 players that really had poor games. I like Derry as a player but his simple passing were woeful and it was a big reason why we were on the back foot for lond periods. Buzz found it tough in the middle and I wouldn't mind seeing Rowlands back. This game is probably to soon but he must have a good 45mins in him. I'd be tempted to start him.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

its a good sign when we arent playing to our best, but still winning, and even thrashing some teams. We have had some fortune on the way, but 22 goals and 2 conceded is no fluke over this amount of games. Like you say, we have been good in front of goal and solid at the back, which wins you games. Last year, we played some nice football and dominated a lot of games, but conceded so many stupid goals, a lot of late ones, and were very inconisistent. Weve turned the corner, and pray we can keep this up - especially with Rowlands, Hulse, and Smith all coming in - with Faurlin to recover soon

Good to win when we don't dominate possession.
We definitely got outdone in the midfield and gave the ball away far too often to a team who don't like to give it back!
Buzz isn't suited to Faurlin's role, but then who is?
We were off the pace for sure and for the first time this season didn't seem to win second balls or even really compete for them.
It was similar to Leicester away except for the fact I thought Donny looked more likely to score than Leicester nil!
Hurry up back Faurlin and bring on the next International break so we can have a rest and get the others fit.
Well done to the team for winning a game in which we didn't quite perform to our best!!

Dont think it was anything to do with Buzz and Derry, the attacking midifeld three were the problem, the movement and work rate was not there, Mackie clearly injured, Adel in one of his not 100% there moods and Hogan playing like the Hogan of last year. There was lack of tracking back and pressing without the ball and with the ball they were all very static.
