Seems to me we never played great against Doncaster and still won ! so I think we can be positive and say we are champion contenders !!However I would not be so confident if we never had such a experienced manager.

One last point... I believe the likes of Smith, Hulse, Rowlands, Cook all have an important part to play this season and the fact we have done so well without these players touching a ball is even more positive.

After 8 games last season WBA 20 points GD +13, Newcastle 19 & +9. I remember thinking they were both looking like taking the automatic places at the time.

This season we are 22 points and +20. Anyone who looks at it objectively would say we are odds on, yet I'm not feeling overly confident. Must be years of supporting the Rs that makes me like that.

If it was anyone but us in our position right now, i would say they were home and dry.

But this is QPR we are talking about,im still half expecting us to F it up at some point.

It hasn't mattered too much in recent seasons until a finishing line became real (Relegation or Playoffs). So not until well after Xmas.

At the moment we are in a pretty new situation as leaders so I have taken the table seriously from the 5th game. If we keep it up the table retains its importance for every game. If we fall away it doesn't really matter any more.

Easter... Seriously though Football's a funny game. Means nothing until January at the earliest. Only a fool will get carried away with it now. Don't get me wrong I'm enjoying being top of the league but for now it's too early to get carried away. Every 3 points we go further ahead I tend to look at it that as one less game we have to play over everyone else from now till the end of the season.

its a bit strong to say only a fool would take the table seriously this early, when no team has ever been this ahead with this many points before and not gone up in the history of the division.
only a fool would not expect us to go up automatic. if we dont we will amke the history books and be laughed at for years.

Right from the start. Every point is as hard to earn and as important as any other.
Never been able to understand the attitude that you should not take too much notice early on. 15 points dropped during first 10 games is 15 more required later on.
Much prefer to achieve safety by November, play off spot by January, promotion by February and then relax and enjoy the records tumbling.

We've always been looking how many points we are off the playoffs etc in previous years, its great to look down instead of up. We haven't had what you'd call an easy start and we're still doing very well
tbh would rather look up to the play offs than down - getting to the play offs is better from below than from above, when it is seen as capitulation.......if you get my drift:pleasantsuprise:

What you say sounds sensible Dazzer and as a veteran QPR supporter I'm all in favour of not getting too carried away for obvious reasons but there was a good analysis last week in - I think - the Guardian that showed something like only one team in the last 10 years that had been leading the table at this stage of the season failed to get promoted (a stato like Sir Pie might come up with the exact statistic) but the general point that came out loud and clear was that the top two places are almost always effectively decided pretty early because early form is not chance but an accurate guide to who are the best two teams. The play off place might be a different story.

Sporting Index are taking QPR seriously, the spread it up 10 points since the start of the season. which is nice

most teams in this league who have as many points as we do after 8 games go up automatically, we are QPR however and have some tough looking games coming up in november when we are generally shite.

Personally I think we take 6 points from the millwall and palace games and we are looking at automatic promotion and I think we will get those points
its New Era number 8 i tell thee, bring on the fireworks
