Helguson was renowned for missing a lot of sitters for us. What went unnoticed was that it was his good positional sense that got him into all those potential scoring situations in the first place. (Waits for remark about "but his position is a forward, that's what he's supposed to do").

Not saying that that aspect has improved greatly and he hasn't set the goalscoring charts alight so far but think Neil has put an arm around him and given him a bit of confidence as he is leading the line well and bringing others into play which is an overlooked aspect of being a striker to some. Also, having better quality around him is helping.

Yep lets all castigate our centre forward because Clarke, Vine or Pelicorri would hold the line up so much better, wouldn't they?

GTP: are you alright? For the most part you act like Pravda saying everything in the Rangers garden is so wonderful we will probably be European champions by Christmas, but for some reason Helguson is the one player you single out for completely over the top criticism. Obviously he is not the world's best striker but compared to a) who else we have and b) what the expectations of him were by many so called fans, I think he's been a revelation this season. Who knows, if you actually try cheering him he might score a few more goals.

everything is still amazingly rosey in the garden man and the champions league beckons.
ive thanked helguson in here for his efforts, but i still dont think hes good enough and i never will, fair play to him for converting the penalties but anyone would look good in this team, and i want someone who scores from open play as well as just puts in the graft.
we have hulse (and if we didnt have him, maybe i would keep my mouth shut about helgusons shortcomings), who when fit i expect to evict 'banjo barn door' man straight out onto the bench

We are playing a more continental style. the midfield scores goals from knock downs from the centre forward. You have to look at total goals scored. Helguson has played a massive part - anyone who has been to most of the games this season would confirm that.

I'm not saying that, as you know perfectly well. Ive made clear I agree there are better centre forwards out there than Helguson. I'm just saying he is more than earning his place at the moment. Am sure Hulse's time will come and I also think we need a third decent striker, but credit where its due - just take a scoll back at some of the rubbish that was posted about Helguson and his abilities from a few months ago and before. He was and remains a decent centre forward - no more, no less. Just asking that he be given due credit, that's all.

Helguson is a player I have always rate, he does a certain job and has been successful most of the time where ever he goes, he holds the ball up, good positioning, strong, good header, pentalty takes, can read the game well, aggressive. He is at the end of his career but he does a great job as the big man up front considering he isnt that big.

Hasn`t NW tried to buy Heider in the past at his other clubs?
