  • What Has Warnock Got Out of Helguson?

That other managers here have not? Always rated him and when placed a you tube clip of him around 18 months ago, got absolutely lambasted for it, now seems a good player up front.

    So what has changed?

nothing much. hes playing in a much better team and has scored 3 penalties and one goal from open play.
hes always held the ball and won headers, but no-one cared because we were losing every week and he was missing sitters every week.
everyone in the team is playing well, but hes no mackie, adel, faurlin or derry to the team and wouldnt make any difference for the worse if swapped for hulse imho.

Personally, I don't think Helguson is playing any differently to how he ever has for us.

Just that Warnock appreciates his contribution, despite lack of goals.

      He's a hard worker.

Agree with Minty, HH is a hard worker and fans appreciate hard working players

You're getting boring G.T.P, time to find yourself a new player to hate

To answer your question Pete, Warnock has made him feel wanted, he's playing in a system that suits him and he's fitter then he's been for many many years.
Ignorant people will always judge him by how much he scores, the ones with half a football brain can see what he brings to the team

Yes, yes, yes -- you're all right.

HH is a goal machine and probably one of the finest forwards to grace the hallowed turf at W12.

On a serious note - his hard work and unselfishness (plus ability to place weak penalties) is very much appreciated.
However should Mackie be missing or his goals dry up and HH carry on missing sitters I think a bit more lambasting may be on the horizon.

Hearing Hulse out till November is concerning - did GP do the medical over a bowl of spag-bol?!?!
I need some time in the sunshine, I gotta slow it right down.

Frode is completely on the money. In the system that we play that striking role is crucial. Its not all about getting goals but being a target man to get possession in the final third. Helguson gives us that and I cannot name 3 other players in the league who are better at that role than him. He runs his nuts off and is so unselfish - real team player

he had no part in either goal saturday, so without mackie it would of been nil nil and everyone would of been coating him off.
oh and he had no part in the derby revival either, without dave and mackie it would of been a 2-0 loss and we would of all been screaming for a striker who actually scores a goal.
sorry if im sounding boring in my dislike of him as a player, and i do appreciate all hes done for us so far this season, but to me its only about time, after all the free money hes picked up for doing nothing.
couple of more games without a penalty and people will realise im not just spouting hate.

His hold up play seems better and for someone quite short compared with most centre backs he wins alot of headers. His work rate has improved and NW deserves the praise for getting his mind focused.
