  • Helguson's penalties..

he is going to look silly if the opposition goalie ever does any homework on which way helguson goes.

was a tad lucky last night.

Yep I thought the keeper had saved it at first.

needs to change it up, keepers study tapes of penalty takers, so if he rolls the next one to the right the keeper will probably throw his hat on it

One way around this is to alternate the penalty taker, we have had 5 already this season and couple of other stone wall decisions turned down, need to mix it up to keep the opposition on their toes.

HH watches the way the keeper goes before he rolls it in the net. If the keeper went to his left, HH would roll it to his right. Worry about it when he misses one.

Excactly. Watch some of the top players in the world - the roll them in because the goalie goes early most of the time.

If it goes in - it's a good penalty

helguson didnt seem to watch where the keeper went last night..

that said alternating between takers is an idea..

buz has a good penalty record and taarabt seems to put em away too. not forgetting rowlands if he comes back into the fold

I'd worry about it when Helguson misses one. If we give it to another player and they miss how would Helguson react? Strikers are confidence players and know exactly how many goals they've scored. If HH knows he won't be taking the next penalty it will increase the pressure on him to score. If the new penalty taker scores will they retain the job or will it pass back to HH. How would that player react?

All the best penalty takers miss. What HH and the team should be doing is working out what to do when HH runs in so that if it is saved one of our players is there first. By changing the system there is uncertainty amongst the players and what they should be doing when the penalty is taken.

If Buzz in on the field, Buzz takes the penaltie. HH takes the penalties if Buzz is on the bench. If Buzz and HH are not on the field, Taarabt takes it. If Buzz, HH and Taarabt are not playing, who knows who will have it, just as long as it is not Fitz Hall.

Why should Buzsaky take the penalities when HH is scoring?

There seems to be a thought that HH is soon going to get worked out but if he's clever enough to have outsmarted 3 keepers already then what's to say that he won't now change his tactic and outsmart the next keeper?

I am assuming that on the basis that Buzz was taking them last season, so as it looks like HH is on them now, will Buzz revert to pens if he was playing ?

Maybe Buzsaky was taking them because HH wasn't in the side??? But now that HH is in the side he takes them.

Lampard has missed penalties as has Graham Alexander but both will still take the penalties because they are the allocated penalty taker and they will score the majority of the penalties. Whilst HH has a 100% record and a missed penalty hasn't cost us I think the whole penalty debate should be put on hold for another day.

Personally id allways have rowlands if fit or buzsaky taking the pens...

Both are fantastic pen takers, i to thought HH was gonna **** that one up, but fair play, once again he slotted it home. Good lad.
Cant believe it, ive been PWOPER MUGGED ORF...

come on mate. dont do this. hh is taking penalties like he will never ever miss, how can you want to get a player whos unfitter than your grandad to take his place.

Im over the moon for HH..

His form is stunning and he has be suberb!! Cant fault the guy!!

Anyone would agree though, rowlys pens and buzsacky are normally, more often than not spot on and the keeper cant get near them... (I did say if fit next to rowlys name)...

Long may HH continue, i wont slaugter him if he misses one. Its just how often do you see his type of pens, then when they dont go in everyone jumps on them and says its the worst pen ever...
