PATRICK Agyemang is being kept in cotton wool ahead of QPR’s home clash with Middlesbrough tomorrow for fear Hoops will be left without any frontline strikers.
New signing Rob Hulse is already ruled out with an Achilles injury, and boss Neil Warnock is praying there is no problem with Heidar Helguson after the Icelander was taken off during his country’s 1-0 defeat to Denmark on Tuesday.
The irony is that Warnock added to Rs firepower before the transfer window closed last week – only to see the threat of injuries force him to take evasive action.
Agyemang was on target in the worthy 2-2 draw at Derby last time out, and would have played in the reserves defeat at Spurs on Tuesday – but his boss wants to make sure he’s not left embarrassed before naming the team for the Boro clash.
He said: “The last thing I need is to go from three front-line strikers to none if Pat were to get injured.
“Hopefully, Heidar is OK, but I need to be smart about this.”
