So £1.5 mill stays in the coffers = an extra £31k in interest now until January.

    Nice.

Two weeks of Rowan Vine salary taken care of there.

The big issue I have with this is that he cannot now face Pompey in November, he'll have to miss 4 weeks under loan rules (return to parent club) and it opens up a whole raft of issues such as:-
Is he defo "ours" in Jan?
What happens if he gets injured between now and then?
This uses up a potential loan slot should we start needing them.
Who will get the sack at Rangers over this a la Shelia Marsdon previoulsy?!?!?

Ah well - welcome Tommy but couldn't you change your name to Arsharvin or Van Der Vart?????
I need some time in the sunshine, I gotta slow it right down.

As others have said none of us know the full details so although its easy to sling mud we can't for definite know who to aim for. My thoughts are that sometimes clubs don't or even can't sell a player until they've sorted out replacements first. Pompey haven't been able to put a full 18 this season and to let him go before they brought Kitson in would have been ridiculous and risky. So although we have had all summer it is possible that we've actually had just a few days when Pompey knew that Kitson would be coming to them. With the likes of Walters and McAnuff as targets it could also be that Warnock has only recently attempted to sign Smith due to failing to sign other players.

What QPR should do now is to wait until Friday to sign Smith so that we have the player as long as possible. If we sign him tomorrow the maximum we can have him is until Friday 10th meaning he couldn't play against Watford on 11th. It is still possible that this game could even be moved for TV to the Sunday meaning that the later we sign him this week we are covered for that match as well even if it's moved.

We had the whole of the summer to tie up the signing of strikers, Smith and Hulse were not even first choice so stop clutching at straws.

This isn't about Pompey or Smith this is about the way we have chosen to conduct our business, stop trying to use the FA as the scapegoat. This is about QPR trying to save a few pennies as per usual letting things go to the wire was our choice, if it wasn't Smith it would have been something else.

I am of the impression that your view is quite spot on. But I hope we for the future have an established scouting network in place so we have other options than those 5,6 or maybe seven established CC attackers to chose from. The problem is that it is almost comical how many clubs that are sniffing around the same players.

Not trying to be funny but this club needs to save money, we get gates of 12 to 13k remember, I agree with what they are doing and we have some good players at discounted price.

Smith will be on loan now, saves us money and if his no good send him back, if we sign him then hope it will be less then what we agreed.

I don't think it will work like that Myu.

The fee has been accepted and I would imagine that this figure stands and he will be signed on a perm on the 1st of jan for the fee of 1.5m
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

People keep saying we had the whole summer to tie this up, but you have to remember (or think) this was not Neils original target, he lost out on those, only a week before the end of the season, i'm not sure of the date when Neil first showed interest in Smith, but he didn't have long i presume.

Again you have no proof of this???? Nobody know's the ins and outs,it's pure guess work. You can stand there and stamp your feet and moan and grumble, but 'nobody' knows what 'actually' was said and what took place *FACT* So you might aswell sit down and have a cup of tea and chill what's done is done, and your ramblings don't change the matter.

to all those who say we've had all summer to tie this up and why wait until the last minute etc etc.. you must live in a very simplistic and idealistic world. Things are never ever that easy. especially when transfers are involved and involving pompey as well. Under stand that the Liam Lawrence transfer Stoke to Pompey is also a loan, so obviously issues at the pompey end.

W12, so the fact we bid over 3m for walters who was our first choice you ignore that point! The fact nw was dejected at losing his first choice to turn to smith who happens to be a Pompey player who aren't easy to deal with, you are soo 2 faced. Without knowing the facts just making assumptions, nw know knew who he wanted if you had half a brain you would realise it's better to sign the preferred option rather than just signing people to keep two faced whingers like you happy!
