  • Kids.. what age to bring them to their first game at LR???

Am getting bored of all this Hulse and Smith horsesh1t so was wondering what's a sensible age to bring a child and stand some sort of chance getting to see some of the action?

My son will be 4yrs old in Nov and am desperately trying to indoctrinate him into becoming an R's fan and am also up against his PNE supporting granddad!! Thing is I have been to so many matches where there are parents of children the same age and younger and often it looks a nightmare and extremely stressful experience for all concerned...

I took him to watch Whitstable Town on Mon (2nd half only to start with) and this was his first experience of being at a proper football ground.. albeit in the Ryman's South league....

Anyway, just interested to see what others think?? Cheers in advance...

I would say 5! Dont expect him to be interested in the footy though, make sure you buy him sweets and something like a QPR teddy from the clubshop so he enjoys the day out.

I would say about 9/10. They have more of an attention span.

I tried my son at 4 and it (with hindsight) was a teensy bit young. However, it did not put him off as he enjoys it very much now at 7. Gotta put additional bait, like food / drink / sweets. maybe a meal / hotdog before, bring a bag with sweets / crisps, a DS or toys of some sort in there. Keep explaning what is going on and don't let them drink too much or you will be forever going to the toilet.

I first took by boy at 3 years, which was a bit too young. He is now 6 and has been all over the country with me. He loves it!!

My first game was at 9 months old and been going ever since. Apart from the odd game, it's all been pretty sh1t for 25 years. Oh well, I'm born Rangers.
First game: Arsenal vs Queen's Park Rangers at Highbury, Saturday 17th November 1984.

I went at 3 but didn't watch the game (so my old man tells me). I've been going ever since though! I'd say about 5/6?

I'm taking my eldest at the end of the month, he will be nearly 5. He's really looking forward to it.

My 2 boys have been going since about 3, my now 8 year old is well into it and has been to both away games with me.

I took my daughter to her first game against Derby last week and she isn't 4 until December. Give it a try but don't be disappointed if they ask to leave after 60 mins or ask for hot dogs, sweets, drinks etc....

Also from remembering taking my two...tell him several times we are in hoops and which way we are kicking.
Also practice your "apologetic look" face as to take him to the loo you have to squeeze down the rows making everyone stand up.
Would suggest use the online booking sysytem as now you can pick an aisle seat
