  • Is it a stupid question re Prem loans.

I guess this is not the right time to ask if we are after any of the Prem players not In The 25 man squads so poss available for loan.
Jason Roberts springs to mind, what's happening there.

My reasoning for the title is due to still not knowing about Hulse or Smith.

Ok, well I was bored - so i went to all their official sites and looked down their squad lists and checked it against the 25 man lists. What a wonderful thing Windows 7 is! I didnt need to keep clicking between tabs!

Clubs who havent been affected - all their players on their official website are in the 25 list or are youngesters:
Arsenal, Aston Villa, Birmingham, Blackburn, Everton, Man Utd, Sunderland, West Ham, Wigan.

Clubs affected - and who is not on 25 man list but on clubs official squad list:

        Blackpool - Rachubka, Coid, Clarke
Bolton - Riga, Shittu (now released)
        Chelsea - Bruma
        Fulham - Stoor
        Liverpool - Itandje
        Man City - Gonzales, Etuhu
        Newcastle - Xisco
        Stoke - Davies
        Tottenham - Alnwick, Woodgate
        West Brom - Moore
        Wolves - Kightly, Hill, Maierhofer

So as you can see not many big names there. So really it hasnt affected many of the clubs - so a pointless rule.

As a note - Fulham have Eddie Johnson in their list (linked with us), and Roberts is in Blackburns list (but at the very bottom - and he has no squad number - so he has probably just been put in there in case a loan doesnt happen).

Yobo signed for Fenerbahce and Murray has been forced to retire due to injury.

West Brom ones are in dispute with the club and want a transfer.Kightly is injured and not expected to be ready for the prem again until Jan,so could be loaned.

Sure many of the others are also wantaways or injuries.

it highlights just how stupid the rule is. even a club like arsenal with barely any english players make the rules.

it does nothing to help anyone.

That's because players like Fabregas and Clichy etc. haved been there since a young age.And Arsenal can actually choose from 70 players including their youth.

Simple way would have been to just have English born players classed as home grown.

But that would upset the top teams and the FA don't want to do that.
