QPR'S Statement of Intent

The next few days are pivotal in seeing exactly what ambitions the club has. We sit in an enviable position at the top of the table. Yes, I know it's only 3 games, but I'd rather be top than bottom!

So we have a platform to have a great season - if we choose to. Logic dictates that the time to buy two quality strikers is when their services can give us a shot at promotion instead of finishing mid-table.

That time is NOW.

I don't care how they do it - but they need 2 strikers. That does not mean silly wages either.

If they do it - great. If they don't - we, the fans, have been sold a load of drivel by the board YET AGAIN. Attendances will drop, undoubtably, and that will make it even harder to buy in quality.

So, if anyone at the club happens to read this - FFS smell the coffee, and don't let this opportunity go to waste.

Surely they realise without Helguson we will have a league 1 strike force.

Lets not waist this opportunity.

I actually think without newcastle and west brom this league is much easier.

I have seen Middlesborough, coventry, derby and sheff utd and all look very average.

Good post, Even if we were to just sign ONE decent proven striker, that would do until next window, but ideally they need 2.

Cant believe after getting coated in June for saying we havent signed anyone we are nearly, very nearly in "FFS it's only September" club..

Good post and first resonse - says it all in a nutshell.Won't be a better time than at present to fulfil our dreams and ambitions.No really big teams in this current league to stand in our way if we really want it.

Because of the way HH has started, and assuming he can stay fit and carry on playing the way he has... I'd say we only need one GOOD striker.

We might want 2, but seeing as we seem to be playing one up front, then one good addition to Heider Helgusson would probably see us fine. At least until january.

A bit of cover at left back, and right midfield wouldn't go amiss, among all the screams for a striker.

Agree. Borrowdale clearly isn't fancied if he's on the transfer list so what cover do we have for Hill? What cover is there for Ephraim?

I'd rather we signed a winger come striker like Tommy Smith then to have Kitson because of his ability to play on the wing.

Hammersmith, what will annoy me is if we do sigh a decent striker but he is like hogan ephraim. Knowing Rangers we will.
We need a striker in the Geoff Horsfield in his prime mould, like when he was at Fulham hw scored hatfull's of goals..

Attends well not fall depending if we sign stiker or not. We could sign great stiker but start losing. What well make attends drop if we start droping down the table and losing. If we near or top and winning attends well go uup fact!

Its a fair point Goddard but can you explain this to me: we apparently enquire about strikers such as Kitson who were purchased for £5m and then we baulk at their wages. But given the ludicrous state of player wages wasn't it obvious that Kitson/ Roberts et al were going to be on much bigger wages than anyone at our club? If that rules them out, why bother going through the tortuous process of trying to sign them, which may only distract us from more realistic targets? Are we really expecting a modern day footballer to say "yeah, sure, I'll take a 50% cut in my wages to come and play for QPR"? I appreciate we are all just going on hearsay and no doubt there is more to it all than this, but on the face of it none of our painfully unproductive transfer activity makes much sense.

Depends how you sign them. If you sign them on loan then the norm is for the both clubs to pay 50% meaning that it would take time to negotiate a deal between the two clubs and therefore wouldn't cost you anywhere near the £30k pw that has been reported.

But why are we forced back into the situation of looking for loans? We have had all summer to find permanent strikers. We all agreed last season that loan players don't have the same commitment.
