    Sirpiechucker,

do you honestly believe someone like Manchester United will have 6-7 strikers in there 25 man squads?

Okay we might not get someone from Man U, but other clubs will have players over. Another club Newcastle United won't have 6-7 strikers either after Monday, which they have now

Other clubs have jumped in like Ipswich and Bristol City. I bet a gem will be waiting that either we didn't expect or because we were patient, we get a player at a knock down rate or reduced wages, all because we waited and not pressured by supporters demands.

Think the club must get a pat on the back, as its been a near perfect start and Helguson is now proving he was not that bad after all.
So what you are saying is its could be good news because although the main strikers NW wanted have snubbed him and signed for other teams, we will be left with dibbs on players who dont have a chair to sit on after the music has stopped. I really cant see how taking a striker because he is signing on is a good thing, as he will be playing for a pay check and I still cant see why we dont want Llanna or La Fondre or Lambert from league 1, or cant we afford them either ?

They don't have to. That's why the rule is ridiculous. As long as you pick all the over 22s you don't have to select the likes of Macheda or Bebe because they can still play without being in the original 25 man squad because they are under 21.

          Pete,

i 100% agree but tieing it all together in such a short space of time is dangerous, but at the same time, we must be in the strongest position in the championship to attract the players apart from those that want to stay up north

Really, I wonder what you'd "do" to them if we'd lost all three games so far...........some people are never satisfied!

                Paul,

I'm betting the main strikers we are after have not snubbed Warnock, admittedly Walters went to Stoke City but Roberts does not look like going anywhere in the premiership (example) and what may he have cost in wages or transfer fees will be highly reduced come 1st September, even in regards Varney bet if he comes it will be far cheaper than say 2 weeks ago when his name was first muted.

Okay, we are being tight but it makes sense to hold fire just a little longer, plenty of good players will become available next week.
Added to that we are sitting pretty on top of the league

I dont mind being tight and wish were were a bit tighter with some of the dros we have signed over the last 3 years, but a striker is the number 1 position and costs accordingly. The reason we have been dire in the past is we have always gone for cheap options or older strikers up front.

                    Newcastle Strikers:

Under 21 - Therefore DO NOT need to be included in the 25 man squad to still play:

                    Ranger
                    Donaldson
                    Carroll

Over 21 - DO have to be selected in the 25 man squad
Ameobi - Was in the Squad versus Aston Villa
Smith - Was in the Squad versus Aston Villa
Lovenkrands - Was in the Squad versus Aston Villa
Xisco - Was in the Squad versus Aston Villa
                    Best

                      What a bizarre post......

Yes we have done very well so far, and long may it continue. But, and it is a big BUT, we are lacking in depth in the squad. I know you went to the Port Vale game. How poor did we look with Helgusson, Taraabt, Gorkss, Hill and Faurlin missing? If we get injuries we could be in trouble.

You can never be "satisfied" for what you have in football, you always need to improve, and the harsh reality is that we haven't improved our strike force for 3 years now.

Yes we are top after 3 games, but we won't stay there with the strike force we have.

Fact is that we need a striker and still yet to have one, that is worrying and all of our good work could be undone if we dont sign somone and HH gets injured.

We will get Roberts on loan and that will be it and yet again we won't have a big and powerful striker to lead the line.

It must be so obvious to the club, but they just don't seem to want to do any deals.

Roberts is a big powerful striker mate.

Problem is, he isn't a QPR player yet!
