  • I'm Guessing..The Gamble Of Waiting For Strikers Paid Off?

Lets say we wait to transfer day or after the 25 man squads being announced, it seems the board and Warnock will be vindicated in waiting? Our impatience (including mine), has mean't we crave signings but come Monday and before the International break we are likely to be top or very near the top, without buying a striker.

Other clubs have jumped in like Ipswich and Bristol City. I bet a gem will be waiting that either we didn't expect or because we were patient, we get a player at a knock down rate or reduced wages, all because we waited and not pressured by supporters demands.

Think the club must get a pat on the back, as its been a near perfect start and Helguson is now proving he was not that bad after all.

They will get a pat on the back if what you say is true and it comes off, but with links to Eddie Johnson just a few days before the window shuts, then you just have to worry.

    Nothing has paid off yet.

The gamble can only pay off if we actually sign someone decent, think your way to premature with starting this thread.

A pat on the back for not being able to sign a decent striker?

I'd rather give them a kick in the goolies.

Agreed. Far too early to say well done especially if we end up with Fallon and Eddie Johnson. I'd rather wait and see who comes in then praise them/

True, but we've scored 9 and conceded 0, I'd bet if we had taken a player on like Roberts say a week ago, he would be worth far less after 1st September. Okay, we risk losing someone of his calibre, but I'm guessing the likes of Manchester City, United and others will have to trim their squads leaving players surplus to requirments.

Maybe Pete but its still too early for a thread praising the club on transfer dealings that haven't been completed yet.

Lets wait and see if what you say comes true and we get hold of a good striker before we start with the back patting.

                        Who though?

Nobody on this board has given any proof that good players from the top teams will not make the 25 and will be surplus to requirements.

We will just have to wait and see, no point doing "praise or grumble" before the event.

plenty of time for recriminations later.

word of caution though, just because we has scored a number of goals so far doesnt mean we can get by without good strikers, and for all helgusons efforts and excellent finish last week he is not the solution we need to get promoted he misses far too many easy chances.
