  • FA cup

Even the most pessimistic of you must surely believe that come January we'll be placed high enough to still have promotion aspirations (even if it's just by dint of being 6 points off 6th place at that point).
Personally, I expect us to still be well in the hunt for auto promotion then. Anyhow, on to my point....
Would you be content to field reserves in FA cup 3rd round to save our first XI players for promotion push? Imagine if Adel broke his leg playing at Tranmere in the cup - I'd be at my wits end!
So, I'd be more than happy to "throw" the FA cup this season.

threw the league cup, and if common sense prevails neil will throw the fa cup as well.
dont need anything getting in the way of our promotion challenge.

The FA Cup has lost its lustre for me. Much prefer full focus on promotion and keeping players free from injury as much as possible.

Although a good cup run would be nice especially if we could get that lot from down the road again i would rather we just concentrate on promotion, we have time for the cup another year.

Can't say I disagree with focussing on the league, that's the way it is in football today but I have to say it is really sad that such a great competition as the FA cup is now seen as of secondary importance.

Years ago the FA cup final was only one of a handful of matches shown live. I have fond memories of me and my brother having to sit quietly with my Dad and Grandad, curtains closed to enhance the picture, watching from early morning as they followed the teams from their hotel and had special FA Cup programming.

Our cup run and ultimate trip to Wembley in '82 remains one of the highlights of my life to date, despite the ultimate result. How I would like to repeat that and for my two sons to have such a memory.

Just goes to show how much saturation coverage of live matches and the TV money has ruined the game.

see port vale got walloped 6-0 last night.
so what did they actually gain from beating us?
they are doing great in the league, and they have to come down to london midweek in the pisshing down with rain to get totallu mullered.
whta t totally pointless excercise, if they knew that they would of fielded a weak side like us, but they aint as clever as us are they
so bad for morale and great to wear out your players for absolutly nothing.
neil is a genius, so glad we threw ourselves out of that tin pot shite cup, and hope he does exactly the same in the fa cup.

A cup run didn't do Burnley any harm a couple of seasons ago. Semi Final of the Carling Cup and a play off win and still only used 23 players for the entire season.

If (big if) we stay injury free then there is no reason that we can't finally win a match in the FA Cup.
