Very harsh.
Vine's whole recovery has been botched along with his entire career -- he's the last person who would have wanted that.
Club cost-cutting --he was put in the BOOT of a players car to be taken to hospital, even though he had a serious double fracture of his leg.
The operation was then botched. He was then put into rehab and training too quickly -- needed another op because of the problems arising from the first op and the rehab.
If you talk to him, he is a bit like Taarabt -- just wants to play football; he took a huge pay cut when he came to us from Birmingham for that reason; this whole episode is saddening and frustrating -- that's why comments from various people about him sitting still for the pay cheque are way off the mark.
The reason he wouldn't go on loan last season was because he was really hoping (against hope, it would seem) that he could get fit and fight his way back into the team.

Good luck Rowan -- I know a lot of us are sad about all of this.

I agree. He has been shabily treated in many ways right from the start of his injury. I have said many times, that the way his op was dealt with (transportation included) and his post-op treatment and training to get him match fit has been very poor.

Wherever he ends up, I wish him well.

From a personal view (And I've always championed Vine) he has shown no real desire to get his fitness back. No signs of his form returning either. You can make all the excuses you like for him, but with today's technology, even I could recover and play properly again. Getting yourself back in shape and back to form is down to the individual IMO.

Look at Rowlands...He's had three (?) serious injuries now and has worked exceptionally hard to get himself back into the fold each time. He's performed very well after each of them as well, and although he's not yet played 1st team football since his latest setback, Warnock had clearly seen him train, and play football recently, and has made it very clear that he wants Rowlands as part of his squad.

i feel very sorry for rowan but lets gets the facts right...

as i remember it he returned to birmingham while on loan to us to ensure he got a huge 'loyalty payoff' rumoured to be in the region of £500,000 which he insisted he was entitled to and wanted....and got

so as far as accusations go of him sitting and waiting for the £'s, he's done it before and is doing it again

i'm not saying it's right or wrong but he DID refuse to leave birmingham and join us until he got some kerrrching!

Spot on mate...And I'd actually forgotten about that. The paycut he took was more than made up with the payout from B'ham.

Vine is NOT on the list because we are talking to him about paying off his contract. A mutual agreement will be resolved and Vine will leave the club. I'd expect he will get a nice pay off and he will join 1 of many league 1 clubs trying to sign him.

Can I ask if you know why we are taking that route with Vine but not the other two?

probably because unlike the others - league 1 teams actually realise that if they can get him fit he has far more ability than the other two put together.
