Well I missed the Barnsely and Port Vale games so this was my first chance to see the R'ss this season. And i wasnt disapointed.
If I just take you back to last season - we didnt look like a team, we didnt create much, and defensivley we were awful. Today we were the complete opposite.
Apart from a few moments we dealt with them exceptionally. Make no mistake, they are a very organised side with some good players and we did very well to win 2-0.
We finally looked like a team who are willing to fight for eachother - which i cannot tell you how happy that makes me feel when im watching. I honestly cannot fault a single players today, they were all great and put in 100%.
If we keep this up (and its a big IF), we will go up, not a shadow of a doubt. We look organised, everyone knows their jobs and we have a perfect blend of tought tacklers and skill players.
KENNY - didnt put a foot wrong. made some very important saves at crucial times.
HILL - a very good aquisition by warnock, gets stuck in and a very solid LB - something we have missed.
GORKSS - apart from one awful attempt at a diving header he was solid and passed well
CONNOLLY - similar to gorkss but strong throughout
ORR - another great aquisition - fast, intelligent with the ball, good crossing and gets forward very well
DERRY - he looks very good indeed. gets around the pitch well, made some great tackles and never gives up. proper warnock player. and i really like the look of him - he lets faurlin and taarabt do what they are good at.
FAURLIN - much the same as derry.
EPHRAIM - as you know i have been one of his biggest critics - but today he was sensational. he really was. he looks transformed. and i hold my hands up, he has totally proved me wrong.
MACKIE - whilst ineffective at times, he never stopped trying and running. i really like him, he will be very useful
TAARABT - well what can i say, he was truly truly amazing today, especially in the first half. they just couldnt cope. he seemed to have won another penalty when the ref pointed to the spot - but for some reason he then booked him for diving and gave them a free kick. but wow, what a player.....
HELGUSON - another one i have criticed but today he was very good. won almost all the headers, held up well, and scored a great goal. only downside is he could and should have had 3/4!
Im trying not to get too carried away here, but its hard! I am feeling so positive right now. 9 pts from 9. top of the league. best start to the season in 63 years. what more can i ask for.
it really is great to watch, some of the football is far from what i thought was warnocks style. I simply cannot wait for the next game, i really cant.
And the atmosphere today was rocking, something special is going to happen this season, at the moment its looking great.
