W12 Impey was ordinary, Holloway was an incredible worker, wilkins as a player was quality and sinton was in a different league and was probably 1 of our best left wingers so yes I agree. Only fraulin has potential to join that elite. x
Impey was outstanding for us, his link up play with Bardsley was second to none at the time and on the left we had Sinton then Sinclair who had the same relationship with Wilson.
To call Impey as ordinary is ridiculous in the context that Impey played the vast majority of his career at the highest level. We may think some of our players look great in the Championship but the gulf between where we were in the PL and where we are now is a million miles apart.
No doubting a very good midfield, but this one is potentially not far behind.
Time will tell.
Wouldn't say they are miles behind as football in general has improved so much techincally in 20 years.
Not a chance in hell I don't care how far you think football has technically advance in 20 years Gerry Francis team of 92-94 would batter Warnocks team of 2010. With all due respect you couldn't have watch much football back then at the Rangers if you think the present midfield is not that far behind that midfield of yester-year.
You are seriously underestimating how good the likes of Wilkins was for us, Faurlin wouldn't be fit to lace his boots at the present moment in time. You think Legiertwood is one of the fittest players about, Holloway would have had him blowing out of his #### if they played against one another. Sinton best crosser of the ball in the country at the time and Impey comparable to someone like Mackie just a helluva a lot better.
That team in 92-93 was the best team I have ever seen at LR and as a modern day comparison better than the Fulham side which reach the Uefa Cup Final.
Wilkins was the one pulling the strings and class for us, no-one in this team matches him by a country mile, please don't try and re-write what i said.
The rest Holloway/Barker were simply work horses. As for Sinton of course he done really well when he came from Brentford, but lets no go over board, always preferred Sinclair.

Agree w12. We are both early 30's and that side got us both hooked on supporting the r's. That side which also included sir les was by far the best side. Impey was a great player but not in the same league as sinton. Also our full backs should of both played more games for england. Our current full backs are miles off bardsley and wilson who were both world class. Pete must just be tired.
Sinton was the best winger I have ever watched... capable of beating his man and able to cross a ball with either his left or right foot.....
Just ask Les... he used to set Les up week in, week out.
Holloway and Barker in my opinion, were under rated big time..... at there peak they would be able to walk into a top 10 premiership team.
Barker was at his best is an attacking midfielder... Holloway a real work horse and able to do his job being un-noticed.... unlike some one like L'wood, who typically looks a like a donkey...
As for Sinclair being better than Sinton.... Sinton all day for me!
The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.

Seriously Pete I now know you are out of your comfort zone a little talking about players that you may not have seen play that much and I don't mean that in a rude way either.
Sinclair better than Sinton, I think that's what we said at the time because we were bitter of Sinton leaving but hand on heart the vast majority of QPR fans will say Sinton was a better player.
To say Holloway/Barker were simply workhorses I find quite insulting to 2 great servants of the club. These 2 players were capable of going one of one with some of the best players in the land and coming out on top a fair amount of the time.
Barker was a skillful player just as much as a workhorse. Whilst Holloway was a work horse he was Wilkins legs at the end of the day. Holloway and Barker enabled Wilkins time on the ball to pick of these world class passes and when you got the likes of Paul Ince breathing down your neck that's not an easy job to do.
I'm sorry but your getting a little to carried away with the players we have got at present.
Sinclair was more attacking and I preferred his style
Talking about not be able to lace boots
Sinton was miles behind Dave Thomas
Yeah but everyone knows that your just stating the obvious
Can't see why you thought Sinclair was more attacking, Sinton was a far tidier player than Sinclair who at the time of signing was affectionally called 'Disco Dancing Trev' due to the amount of un-necessary step overs he use to do
I always found Sinclair quite a clumsy player by comparison.
w12ranger, no real need for the sarcasim, we are talking and debating.
Please stop throwing dirt and trying to insunate I never went, because I would have gone more homes games in that period than you, as I never missed one. You would have found me in the Ellerslie Family section bringing kids to games for about 3-4 seasons, so no need for that.
back to the debate, its a song FFS. of course its not the best midfield in the world, that accolade would probably go to Barcelona. Gallen never wore a magic hat and we are not really the finest football team in the world are we?
That team was of course very good, but one or two weaknesses. For example Devon White was no better than Ageymang.
