Yes life is good. But you're seeing something I'm not if you are seeing greatness I am afraid. There was a touch of pure genius from Faurlin for the last goal at Barnsley but even Warnock said the result falttered us and I agree. I will put Port Vale to one side as it wasn;t the same (though I do hope it has put an end to those touting Leon Clarke - possibly the worst half I have seen anyone put it for..well ever. Good thing (for me) about Saturday is we got lucky and were clinical. It wasn't a master class. Part of the reason I am happy at the moment is precisely because we weren't that good, we don't have a striker but we were still good enough to bang in 7 and are top of the League.

I have seen lots of totally blind optimism over the years (remember October last year for example?) . Indeed I am often guilty of it. Most of my Rangers mates think I suspend my critical faculties when it comes to Rangers. But best ever midfield? Really? Nah.

So do I. The fixtures are quite friendly to us to get confidence boosted (well they could certainly be worse) so I hope we will have this little buzz on for a while yet. I hope and expect we can do for Scunthorpe and I am starry eyed enough myself to think we won't get beaten at Derby. McBoro first test up (home points we need and not to give to a promotion rival the and transfer window will shut by then so could have new personnel). But I think we might do them. Acid test but for my money are the next two aways at Ipswich at Leicester. If we get through those with points from them we will know how good we are in the Div this year.

Impey----Barker/Hollway----Wilkins-----Sinton

was a few signings away from challenging them for the PL.

That midfield above would leave the present midfield on their knees begging for the final whistle.

W12 Impey was ordinary, Holloway was an incredible worker, wilkins as a player was quality and sinton was in a different league and was probably 1 of our best left wingers so yes I agree. Only fraulin has potential to join that elite. x

No doubting a very good midfield, but this one is potentially not far behind.

Wouldn't say they are miles behind as football in general has improved so much techincally in 20 years.

Wilkins was simply outstanding in midfield for us, with Holloway and Barker the work horses. Some of the great passes that Wilkins played were simply world class. I remember one chip over the goalie (cannot remember who against), that was sensational

Impey only came good later on, (remember watching him at Loftus Road quite a bit in the reserves) before he was given his chance
