  • Long but interesting article from Loftforwords

Sorry if its already been posted but here goes....

This Week – Why missing out on Walters could actually be a blessing

Neil Warnock didn’t try to hide his disappointment on Wednesday when QPR were beaten to the signature of Ipswich Town attacker Jon Walters by Stoke City. But is it really bad news?

Read it just before I saw this thread. Very good article, quite interesting.

      Very interesting read.
I agree with his parting shot about the quality striker -- and the whole affair demonstrates that there IS the money to go out and get one, hopefully in the very near future.
Faurlin is my hero!!! Love him!!! #########

That article sums up everything I have personally been saying on here about our transfer policy, the incompetence of Paladini and the ridiculous sum of money we were prepared to pay for Walters.

I completely agree with every word of this article, I am so relieved we never signed Walters at that ridiculous price.

Just to clarify and it only needs a one word answer

Walters was the number 1 target of whom?

I'm also happy we didn't sign another attacking midfielder.

I believe we probably offered £1.5m plus add ons etc anyway.

I don't like the man but I fail to see why you are blaming the italian waiter on this one? It was Neil warnocks decision and his judgement that the player was worth 3 million spent on him. You seem to disagree with Neil alot, what with Hall as captain and now this?
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

What's that suppose to mean, stop trying to be clever Pete it doesn't suit you.

That article covers a wide range of subjects, maybe you should try reading it properly before getting all gun-hoe with me instead looking to jump to your mates defence at the first opportunity.

Again someone else who hasn't read the whole article properly there are 4 pargraphs which relate to our previous transfer policy and Paladini's input.

Yes I do disagree with Warnocks decision to make Hall captain and signing Walters, 2 bad decisions IMO and as lady luck would have it both decisions have been dealt a blow.....I'm really starting to think this could be our season.

w12ranger, fails yet again to answer a simple question.

Not talking about the article, talking about your view on the question posed

Why don't you do yourself a favour and read my response to WeareQPR12 above your post, I told you stop trying to be clever.

Okay, I'll answer the question because you cannot be bothered.

Walters was the Number 1 Target of...........

                        ....................................

                        NEIL WARNOCK

which you s.lagged off and questioned his judgement, which goes to prove whoever is in charge of transfers abeit Gianni, Warnock or my Dog Rover you will think you are mother superior and a better judge of a footballer.

Putting aside for a moment the pro GP anti GP stuff (all a bit OTT and tiring for me) the way I see it is that we have done very well in this transfer window and been surprisingly active (addressing some defensive frailties and seemingly adding two very good attacking weapons). I think that with the new 25 squad player rule we will do even better. If we can select the right players to loan (i.e. not old about to retire hacks) but young fringe players who NW can mould into his system where we have the chance to actually purchase them at the end of the loan spell then this may go down as a landmark year. And this I believe is a result of the fact that we seemingly have a manager who is controlling who he wants in. If we get two strikers (one bought and one on loan) and shift some of the dead wood then this will be one of our best transfer windos in a long, long time. Just my opinion.

Ok I'll help you out a little here as you seem to be struggling a little.

Walters would have been a good signing at a third of price but the kind of outlay we were talking about was foolish, Warnocks mistake. I thought I had covered this on previous threads maybe you didn't read them or as I suspect being pedantic.

Walters was a signing I didn't agree with, he is clearly a good footballer otherwise Stoke wouldn't have bought him but I didn't think he was one we needed to make especially with that sort of outlay. Warnock may have been right to go in for him and proved a large number of critics completely wrong, some are certainly backtracking over Mackie now.

Surely your not trying to compare Warnocks transfer policy and handling of contracts to the mess Paladini created, surely your not that daft?

Can we make a separate forum for the pro and ati GP supporters to #### it out on and have the mods/admins move any posts which talk of the subject because for me they tend to take away from any thread in which Pete and W12 start with the handbags!

                              Just a thought!
