And i suspect the poster who got info from warnock saying we have a £15 mill warchest may turn out to be true, if infact we do pay £3.2 mill for walters.

Cos we still need two class strikers.

          Right...

          I live near Ipswich.
The vast majority of lads in my town are proper Ipswich fans.

I'm not saying that Walters is the next Steven Gerrard, or anything (he'll be the 3rd Scouser in our team, as well as both full backs)... but they all seriously rate him as a player. Without exception.
They might backtrack on that now he's gone... fans often do... but I know what they really think of him at ITFC.
He's not an out and out striker as such... probably more of a Rowan Vine/Mackie type position, but his finishing is very good, he is very strong, he is very decent in the air, and he is the best player at Ipswich - bar none. (or was)

If we can get a Roberts/Kitson/Scotland to play as the lone centre forward, then have Taarabt, Buzsaky, Walters, Mackie etc... all feeding off him, we will have a team to beat anyone in this league. Anyone.

And Helgusson isn't doing a bad job of holding that role right now. Yes, we probably need one more good centre forward to nail things down... but Jon Walters is a very good player.
          Seriously.
I make Goddard right,I work at the Port of Felixstowe and I'd say most people support Ipswich and out those that do a large amount ave season tickets or go regularly and they are seriously pi**ed off he's going a few are coming up with "its good business sense ,we only paid £100,000" or "he doesnt get enough goals" he's s**t now!" etc etc " but on the whole there gutted he's going! So to me thats says he must be half decent for them to react like that??

You'd often start off a new signing on the bench until they've had the opportunity to get to know the rest of the squad and the style of play. Perhaps bring them on during the 2nd half. Then, when it's obvious that they're better than the person they subbed (Hogan?) they take over in the starting line-up. Face saved all round - OK..?

Honestly can't see that, surely we won't be paying more than £2.7 million up front? Would prefer him not to be Mike Sheron's successor - kiss of death and all that..!

We spoke to an Ipswich fan a few hours ago and he said if Walters scores more then 20 goals for you then he'll pay his signing on fee, he told us that he'd get about 8 tops and that he's not a bad team player.

He said the Ipswich fans are more puzzled by the fee we offered... "where did that come from" was his actual words, they don't even think he's worth that and went on saying we could have got a premiership player dropping down to Championship for that.

cheer him either way but if we payed over a million for him then we been stitched up and anything over that million could have been spent on a striker..
