Because of the kind of man/manager Warnock is... I do not think he would drop Ephraim, Taarabt, Hegusson or Mackie from a winning team just because he's spent some money on Jon Walters, or anyone.

BUT... if one of them has a dip in form, or gets a knock, or is having a poor game - they're hooked. And replaced by Jon Walters, rather than replaced by Josh Parker. (no offence to JP)

geezer went up for a straightner and head to head with the mighty roy keane, do you think he would sign for us on the pure hope one of our players might drop form or get injured one day.

hes a first teamer staight away imho.
if he aint, then ####ing hell, get the songs ready.

Same for Ephraim? All of a sudden he's nailed on to start all season after 2 good games? Warnock wont drop him if he carries on playing like he has been, but what if he dips in form? Or is having a poor game... who do we bring on then? Josh Parker?
What if Walters is better over a season than the pair of them?

Squad game, and our isn't deep enough. Yet.
Does anyone really think it is?.. and all we need is Jason Roberts/Kitson to make everything else ok??

Anyone would think that because we are signing Jon Walters (that's if he actually signs?)... then that means that we wont get anyone else in, and that all the money is used up.
If that's the case, then it's the first I've heard of it.

Sorry, but I really don't get the reasoning behind a lot of the comments on here in the last hour. (not just yours)

Agree with you m8, how can all the moaning on here has turned from getting in free's or only cost 500k ffs, to we shouldent be paying out 3.2mill....hahaha pharking comedians on here.

And i suspect the poster who got info from warnock saying we have a £15 mill warchest may turn out to be true, if infact we do pay £3.2 mill for walters.

Cos we still need two class strikers.
      They seek him here.................

        Agree Goddard

Going to be a long hard season. We need a strong squad and Walters will certainly help that

          Swanleyhoop.

Its all about having a squad, look at our bench and you can see how badly we need quality. Which ever way it is done, I'd much rather have Hogan on the bench than some of the youngsters, you must legislate for injuires and suspensions.

Games come thick and fast from next month too

He'll get in the team eventually, because he's good.

But we can predict what we like on a messageboard... but I'm as certain as I can be that Neil Warnock would not drop Hogan Ephraim or Jamie Mackie on saturday, even if we signed Walters. He's a fair man.

It wouldn't be fair on those lads after the start they've made, Warnock knows that... it wouldn't give the right message out to the rest.
And I'm sure he'd explain to Walters, so that he'd know it too.

Same goes for Buzsaky, when he's fit again.

if this is true (but i do doubt it tho), then my heart will stay intact and rangers life gets better and better.
every player whos just behind helguson have played out of their skins these 2 games so far, would be so bad to drop anyone for a new signing. especially one whos been kicked out of his own club for being disruptive.

What if he is bought to play alongside Helgusson/clarke in the middle aswell? Even if he hasent been played in that position before. Who knows what Warnock is up to really?

                    I live near Ipswich.
The vast majority of lads in my town are proper Ipswich fans.

I'm not saying that Walters is the next Steven Gerrard, or anything (he'll be the 3rd Scouser in our team, as well as both full backs)... but they all seriously rate him as a player. Without exception.
They might backtrack on that now he's gone... fans often do... but I know what they really think of him at ITFC.
He's not an out and out striker as such... probably more of a Rowan Vine/Mackie type position, but his finishing is very good, he is very strong, he is very decent in the air, and he is the best player at Ipswich - bar none. (or was)

If we can get a Roberts/Kitson/Scotland to play as the lone centre forward, then have Taarabt, Buzsaky, Walters, Mackie etc... all feeding off him, we will have a team to beat anyone in this league. Anyone.

And Helgusson isn't doing a bad job of holding that role right now. Yes, we probably need one more good centre forward to nail things down... but Jon Walters is a very good player.
                    Seriously.
I'm liking the sound of that Goddard me ole son.

Totally agree with the squad thing, I'm just wondering about the immediate question of selection for Saturday -- whichever way you look at it, people are assuming Hogan will be dropped, which would be an incredible decision given a) he's got most assists and goals so far this season and b) it's poor management to change a winning team -- especially when they're winning so emphatically.

Just don't see why Hogan should be benched at the mo -- if his form drops, fair enough, but him and Mackie should be given a chance to show if they can maintain their current form.
For what it's worth, I actually think Taarabt might be less effective without Hogan on the pitch -- it's a midfield pairing which seems to have some real chemistry in it, and which has been instrumental in our good start.

Swanley I have played football from the age of 7.

If he is as good as his price suggests then for me he has to be a starter.

We have been playing well but hogan is a little hit and miss and it sounds that Walters will give us much more options in an attacking sense.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Fair enough, but I still think Hogan shouldn't just be dropped unless his form drops.
According to something Pete said in an earlier message, Mackie plays the same side as Walters -- so could he be the one to make way?
Or perhaps NW has it in mind to play Walters up top?

we should go be contemplating messi and ronaldo coming in then if our subs are gonna be 3.odd million.

not taking the mick mate, but there is no way a prmeiership target like walters is coming in not to walk STRAIGHT into the first team.
if he signed at 7pm and we had a big match tonight at 7.45pm, he would play in it of it was legally alllowed. i honestly believe that.
he will be a great player for us, but i cant help feeling so gutted for hogan, but ill get over it.

Signing Walters will make our squad stronger end of, I really don't see what all the bickering is about.......

Get JR in and I for one will be delighted!
