  • The "...Utility Player..." ...

...That Neil is after is Jon Walters from Ipswich methinks.

In the Daily Star footy pull out, the match report from their draw against Burnley starts:

"Moneybags QPR have swooped for wantaway Ipswich star Jon Walters...."

It then goes on to say ...

"...Although Prem League clubs Stoke and West Brom are in the hunt for Walters, it is Neil Warnocks Championship pacesetters who are in the box-seat for the 3m rated player after making a bid for him over the weekend..."

    Then I saw this too...

"Keane told the club's official website: "We had another bid from a club on Friday.

"Everyone keeps talking about Stoke but another club has made an offer and we are in talks.

"Jon's reaction to me taking the captaincy from him was very disappointing and it's best now if he moves on."

So is he a striker or a midfielder?

    lol

Either way - I would welcome him. Captain, highly rated. Good addition to the squad.

    In Warnock I trust!

£3,000,000 rated Walters. Stoke are interested also. Would be a bit of a coup if we could sign him over a now established prem side. I remain sceptical on this one.

        £3m??

Decent player but not worth £3m IMO.

Or worth 4 times that that Ambrose was supposedly worth.

The direct quotes from Keane are encouraging.

It seems we've made a bid and are negotiating.

Start at £3m and work our way down to 500k, plus add-ons when we achieve promotion + Rowan Vine in a swap.

They need to fund their need for a new striker.

              Job done :drunk:

Guess we are no longer in the hunt for McAnuff? Maybe in January?

Only repeating what the rags have said. I don't doubt you that he's not worth half that though.

Wasn't doubting you it's just that £3m is silly money at this level for a player who isn't prolific neither is he high on any list of assists. We could get Tommy Smith for half the price.
