He has regressed as a footballer this year?

I should put that in my signature, classic quote.

He has only played against Port Vale, where everyone on the field was s.hite

Connolly has effectively had nearly a year without full fitness, due to glandular fever.
It can take up to two years to fully recover, though, with his existing fitness levels, for him one year might be long enough.
Either way, we can't judge Connolly on any performances last season; the season before, everyone was raving about him -- that's the Connolly we will hopefully see this season.

Having said that, I'd be happy with Ramage or Connolly -- but at CB, not full backs.
Faurlin is my hero!!! Love him!!! #########

        Pete please read things properly.
I said "regressed this last year" meaning last season.

How you have come to the conclusion I said my opinion is from one Port Vale game is beyond me.

You really do continually make yourself look silly.
        Good entertainment value you are!

Don't get me wrong he's not a bad player but no where near the player you think he is, in fact he is distinctly average IMO.

Best player at the club bar none, that line is priceless. If he was marking Taarabt in a game poor old Matty would asked to be substituted such would the embarrassment be to him, in fact don't worry about Taaarbt, Ephriam would turn Connolly inside out.
A couple of seasons back I thought Connolly was going to be the future captain of the club. He went through a period where his performances were outstanding. Why that didn't continue I do not know but it does prove he does have the talent.

Potentially IMO he is the best player at the club. Problem is is just isn't showing it any more.

Glandular fever is a VERY nasty illness. Be patient with Conners, he'll get back to his best soon enough. Ishan Saksena was really excited when he extended his contract.

These outstanding performances must have past me by then, the best I have know Connolly to play for us was just before he got injured last season around the time he weighed in with a couple of goals and that was AFTER his bout of glandular fever.

I find him a distinctly average player and if we hadn't signed him from Arsenal I doubt he would be put on a pedestal in the same way by Rangers fans. I can see some potential, sure he is young and is composed on the ball but can't help thinking a section of our support will continue to make excuses for him until they are blue in the face. I can't see Connolly making an impact this season, I think we'll sign a new centre half in Jan as the promotion push hots up, personally I think we need one now.

Connolly has a lot of potential. Ramage is a better centre back than Hall, and should be first choice with Gorkks. Hall makes too many mistakes, doesn't read the game well, and for a man of his size doesn't fancy it against a tough opponent, or win the ball enough in the air. That's before you even look at the disruption caused with his inevitable injuries and all the games he misses.
Ramage is a poor full back, but an excellent centre back at our level.

It disturbs the whole balance of the defence. I said it throughout the summer and I will say it again, tear his contract bung him 100k and **** him off out of the door.

I like Ramage and he is the nicest player in all our squad, its not about that its about who is the better player. That clearly is Fitz Hall.

I can't be alone in those thoughts, as Warnock has made him club captain.
It´s easier playing for a championship winning side as a defender, than playing for a team that has to do more defending. It´s then it´s shows if u are a good defender or not.

I think QPR wanted to off load and Neil is trying to work his magic by making him out to be our No.1 player, promote him to club captain and hoping someone will come in to buy him.

I could be completely wrong but that's what I would have done. (It's called mind game)

Connolly is quite poor in the air, thats criminal for a center back, also slow to recover, speed wise.....good footballer but never a center back.

                        Defensive midefielder.....possibly.
                        They seek him here.................

Yes totally agree, Connolly is slow, has no physical presence and is poor in the air for a CENTRE HALF

However away from home when we are looking to be difficult to break down I think he could sit in this midfield and do an affective job.

Peter Ramage will be more than capable of filling in for Fitz Hall.
He's a decent enough centre half, and Connolly hasn't really done enough to warrant all this misty-eyed nonsense about him being our most gifted player, that's palpable nonsense in my opinion.
Having said all that, I hope Fitz gets fit soon.

Ramage is a good enough right back, but I'd have Hall anyday of the week ahead of him in the centre back position.
Pete, I'm still lost by your first line. People are basing an opinion on what they write not see???
Ramage definitely isn't a better centre back than hall. Hall, then connolly then ramage. Gorkks is no 1 though

Gorkss has been very good this season.

Through our bad period last season he was dire, often out of position.

w12 ranger is writing off a young talent, who when he played last season was way out the best defender we had.
