Pete, What Championship winning side did Hall play in???
And if so that would have been years ago.

Hall is average at best, and to be honest he has not been tested at all this season, to come out now and claim that Fitz Hall is this wonderful player; makes a mockery of you as you spent the last 2 years slating Hall.

Try to shoot yourself in just the one foot in future.

Ramage a decent enough right back? Even you yourself said in posts last season that he looked good "now he's finally being played at his correct position"

And that he was playing CB in "games of little consequence at the tail end of last season"? I seem to recall that Palace game meant something, can't quite recall what it was --- oh yes, that's it, a virtual guarantee of staying up!

As for Hall, obvioulsy there's a good player in there and that's why he was given a tremendous and long contract. If he could stay fit for 20 games in a row he would be a fantastic player to have.
I need some time in the sunshine, I gotta slow it right down.

          Jeffro,

Unless I am mistaken he played for Newcastle United last season, on loan

He played in 7 of the 46 matches. He was hardly the reason they were a winning side. He was unavailble for 10 of the 17 matches he was at Newcastle and he played in the full 90 mins for Newcastle when they lost 3-0 to Derby. He was only in a winning Newcastle side three times. The drew three and lost the game against Derby.

Hall IS a good player, but he allows players to get the wrong side of him far too often and gets injured shaking hands. The bloke is not fit to be our Captain because he is never fit. Pretty simple really...

No chance has done absolutely FA since he has been at the club, I think maybe bar De Canio not a single manager we've had has even had him as 1st choice centre half.

Don't get me wrong he's not a bad player but no where near the player you think he is, in fact he is distinctly average IMO.

Best player at the club bar none, that line is priceless. If he was marking Taarabt in a game poor old Matty would asked to be substituted such would the embarrassment be to him, in fact don't worry about Taaarbt, Ephriam would turn Connolly inside out.

[QUOTE=qblockpete;427272] Hall on the other hand played in achampionship winning side and its a no brainer that Hall is a better centre back than Ramage.
                  [QUOTE]

Whether your opinion is right or wrong, and as is usually the case, it's somewhere in the middle, (there are shades of grey here - Hall's nowhere near as bad as people make out, but he's not going to be displacing Beckenbauer in any hall of fames any point soon...)

What i do take umbridge with, is your sweeping generalisation that because Hall played for Newcastle last season he's automatically better than Ramage, and to call it a 'no brainer' is dismissive and stifles any sort of debate - it's exactly this looking down the nose at people's opinions that p*sses so many people off on this site. Also, to suggest that you and Neil are on the same page, and to almost insinuate that you're right because you agree with warnock (which is exactly the same thing that Neil-the-weatherman did) is also patronising.

Lest we forget that David May is a Championship, FA Cup and European cup winner with Man Utd, but i don't think we'll see him grace many team of the decade lists, will we?

Hall is a not a bad centreback - when he's fit, he's strong, powerful and a very good libero type centreback with the ball at his feet.

however, for a man his size, he doesn't score enough with his head, he is injury prone, and also doesn't read the game well enough for my liking - i suspect the reason that he injures himself so much is in part because he makes too many last ditch lunges to clear the ball, because he hasn't read the game as well as he possibly could in terms of positioning.
RUN, MWEPU, RUN! CHARGE FORTH AND BOOT THAT BALL DOWNFIELD MY BOY, YOU MAGNIFICENT CHAMPION YOU!

It will be interesting to see how our defence -- whoever is in it at the time -- copes with better forward lines than Barnsley or Sheff Utd had to offer.

I think our first BIG test in that respect will be Middlesbrough.

hes captained in us to our best ever start and the defence hasnt let in a goal.
dont care what anyone thinks of him, there is no room for any slagging off of any qpr defender (or keeper)

Seem to remember you , championing Ramage last season at centre back, and slating Hall.

Now Typical of you, you have jumped on the Fitz Hall bandwagon because he has played 1 and a half league games quite well.

Ohj sorry forgot the 3 he conceded against Port VAle.

My only concern with Hall so far this season is the ongoing fitness stuff.
But I think Ramage is a good enough CB to stand in.
He was on the pitch for nearly half the match on Saturday and did ok once settled.
But let's how well we cope with better teams.

I'd still like another center back with pace, haven't been to either of the league games but against Vale, Hall was woeful. Cannot distribute the ball at all.
