Yeah because an education is free nowadays isn't it unlike back in your day should you have chosen this path in life, you'd have been funded.

The fact that you knew no one who went Uni growing up was a reflection on the company you chose to keep and the circles you mixed in. I don't know your personal circumstance but I know mine. I had one mate from Wormholt with the same ambition as me to go Uni and that was it, we worked hard at education the rest didn't.

The state funded my Uni fees because I came from a single parent family below the earning threshold. In fact the state only helps those who can't afford an education, so I'd like you to explain to me how the state funds round the world jollys for students. Uni is expensive, I alone had 19k worth of debt from student loans which is paid back to the government with interest. My Uni degree enabled me to earn a good wage from day 1. Through further education I have ended up paying higher rates of tax due to being able get higher level of job, last tax year my tax bill topped 32k alone (that should be enough to keep a family of spongers on the rock and roll for another year).

Finally if parents want to subsidise their children's life experiences who are you to criticise. I know when the time comes I will be more than happy to send my son or daughter off around the world backpacking for a year if that's what they want as they would have been raised to be responsible appreciative young adults.

Students on average go on to earn at least 50% more than non students after graduation. These students then pay higher rates of tax and NI, thus funding the deficit in the amount low earners pay. They also contributed higher rates to charities.

So any arguments that students are tax dodgers are unfounded and just shows the ignorance of certain sectors of the British public and their band wagon jumping. I certainly got no free money and had to pay my own way through university as my parents couldn't afford to. The debts incurred I am still repaying.

You don't need a university education to be clever, but sadly it seems like you were one of the ones smoking when they were handing out intellect.

Out of interest, why are you contemplating an English degree, when you cannot seem to construct a sentence correctly ?
