never quite grasped why players from english league want to play in spl - seems a bit of a football backwater tbh and always a two horse race - suppose its a fastrack to playing cl footie if they go to celtic or rangers. why hooper went to celtic when he could have gone to a middling prem team or top championship team seems odd to me. boils down to money probably. would love to see rfc or cfc in the prem to see how they fair. very average probably!

I think they would both be top half, maybe not with their current squads but they would attract more decent players if they played in the PL. They are both big clubs with massive following.

Celtic have 58,000 season ticket holders. Having them in the prem would be excellent. The fan base is one of the biggest in the world & on premier league money they could attract the very best what with their tradition & history.

As it stands they would be similar to a fulham type of club with regards prem position.

They will never allow them to join the prem anyway so not worth the debate.

Hope Rangers sign no one of any quality can't stand them damn huns.. ;-)

I would never want any scottish team to join the prem.

They go hand in hand with the issue of the welsh teams, who i also dont like having in our leagues.

Also why should they be allowed any special treatment, if they were allowed to come to england they should be made to join at the lowest leagues and work there way up.

both huge clubs with massive fan bases-in the prem(it will never happen) they would both end up wiping the floor with spuds/villa etc-challaging for the top 4 in time-celtic took over 20'000 to barca in the last 16 of the cl 3 seasons ago-rangers are also big to travel. the reason players that we might be in for go up there is obvious. in the prem they would be able to attract the top players. no derby on these isles come close to the buzz of the ol'firm-manic!!!!

I think you will find you are wrong. Last season 58,000 ST holders.

This year on July 16th the number of ST's sold was 43,000 I expect another 5-6000 at least have renewed since then.

If you don't know around 6,000 ST's are sold with the understanding that these are not valid for Old Firm games thus freeing up 8,000 tickets for the visit of Rangers.

I am well aware of Celtic's capacity thanx i've been there many times.

sometimes 17,000+ celtic season tickets give games a miss, either not so loyal or that football up there is that poor shopping with the missus is a more entertaining option.

Don't think you can question Celtic fans loyalty considering they have one of the biggest travelling fan base's in club football. But its true last season some games were 38-000 tbh I think Glasgow folk are a bit more adept at voting with their feet when they are served up sh!te football. Its as simple as that really. We are hardly ones to shout about our fans or crowds.

Never experienced that myself. But I guess if you believe everything you hear without being there to see for yourself then that probably makes you shallow minded?
