  • news catch up...

Am away on hols and internet limited.

So to catch up: chopra and roberts just a publicity stunt (shock horror these players wd cost serious money) so instead we might if we are lucky get luke varney (not rob hulse, derby's only decent striker) on loan.

Is that a fair summary of where we are?

Yeah cheers james, its good but keep thinking there might be a bit of good qpr news...

Still here's hoping we might beat league 2's crewe alexander to this boutique signing, eh?

Gtp and all you big talkers - polite enquiry, but how's it hanging?

I presume you lot have seen varney play loads then? Why don't we a) wait until he signs first b) give him a few games....then you can all moan

Usually, I'd agree with you mate, but you cannot honestly tell me that you believe a strike force of Mackie, Clarke, Heider and Varney will fire us up the league?

Now I'm all for giving players a chance, and I will give them all a fair go, but it does not mean that I'm not concerned at the lack of a striker that's actually good at his job.

We've all nown for a number of years now, that we need a 'good' striker or two. This was the case when we had Dex, who love him or like him (I was always a fan) was our best goal scorer along with Furs in recent years, yet we decided to let him go...Confused much? Me too.

We're really scraping the bottom of the barrell right now and it's hard to take. I don't think people are not willing to give these guys a chance, but they are all frustrated that we have a load of strikers who aren't exactly prolific over a 46 game season.

Gosh when Benny is admitting things are tough, they really must be. It amazing how so many people on here seem to want to accept no good journeymen, whom have had about 1 decent season in their career.
And when most fans kick off we get back the reply of "give them a chance blah blah"

When in reality we all know they are shite.

After Aggymang, Vine, Pellicori, Helgusson, Clarke...You would have thought they would have learned!!

Well part of it is that i'm trying to stay positive. But also if rumours are to be believed that the likes of roberts want 30k a week then i think we're making the right decision in not signing them. We cannot as a club sustain those kind of wages. The other option is Chopra but are cardiff really willing to sell him? Clubs don't let their best strikers go too easily.

Varney and Clarke do have talent. They are clealy players that have recently been preforming well below the kind of level they can perform at. We've got to have faith in warnock. He could get the best out of them. Varney was a player who commanded a transfer fee of 2m not long ago.

I would love us to sign a chopra but let's try to stay upbeat until we've played about 15 games...then we can have a good old moan if things are not going great.

Having said that the big difference is that if we sign varney, I'll be going to watch him player more in hope than expectation......if chopra was playing I know he would get goals.

Vine at the time was seen as an excellent signing and was brilliant until his injury so not sure you can include him in the list.
Dave....he started very well for us too and went on a right run scoring goals.
He also at the time was seen as a decent signing.
Helgusson....another who at the time was seen as a good signing. His all round play is very good it's just his finishing that has let him (and us down)
It's easy for you to say all that after the event but as I've shown above 3 of those 5 started well and were seen as good additions not journeymen. And Clarke's only played 45 minutes!

Please take a look at both Aggy and vines scoring records before we signed them and tell me that you would have bought them. Vine was ok for us, played half decent under Di Canio thats about all!

Helgusson was crocked before we signed him, and had a history of being injured.

And you want to make a case for Clarke well take a look at his stats to date and again tell me if you would waste money on him?

Vine was ok for us? Buz and him were hailed as players that would take us back to the prem.

Helgusson's problem has been his finishing for us but at watford he bangs them in for fun. I'm beginning to lose faith but I just think that surely soon it'll click for him with us.

Peole can hail all they like, the fact remains that Rowan Vine has only got over 15 goals ina season; ONCE in his whole career.

Im not losing faith as I never expected us to spend anyway. Signing AT is worth admission fee alone.

We wont spend big, we wont sign Chopra, and anyone that thinks we will should remove their head from the clouds as it simply aint gonna happen.

Chopra and a centre back would all but guarantee play-offs for me. But as you say adel is worth admission fee and warnock is getting the best out of him. Maybe he can do the same with clarke...and varney?

Sorry mate, see Adel has pure talent, he is young and we have seen 1st hand him win games singly handedly for us. All he needs is a little man management by Warnock, he will be fine.

Whereas Clarke on the other hand is pants, always has been, was released by a relegated side and WILL NOT just turn good.

Warnock is a football manager not a Magician!
