  • Why oh why ?

Why have we signed Leon Clarke and Shaun Derry, they wouldn't get into the Port Vale team. I know many of you will say neither would Leigetwood and Borrowdale, and maybe a few others, and you would be right, but, these players were brought in by Warnock to improve the squad. Really Neil ?
So much for the "fun time" in the transfer market.

Derry was class against Barnsley, so let's not #### him for underperforming when in general, so did the whole team. Derry is never going to look class, but he will be very important for us this season.
    Your mum would love me...

derry and hill have been brought in to give the team some character and passion.

when we win 4-0 those two wont shine. however 1-0 wins away to s****horpe on a cold winter night they will prove their value.

clarke is never going to be good enough.

Oh for god's sake, he's only had 2 games yet the others like legs and borrowdale have had more chances than ashley cole. And clarke's had half a game!! Give them a break. I think derry was good on saturday and along with hill gives us the experience and knowhow that we need.

dont disagree we could of proper found some better quality, but we haven't..

derry and hill do the basics well.

              clarke does not.

even tho its really early and one crappy cup game in, i think its safe to say that clarke is a proper mistake purchase.
he will probably never ever start a league game for us or ever score a goal for us, and i would never be happy if we were 1-0 down and he came on to try and change the match.
suppose every manager takes gambles on players hoping they can bring them good and they all get it wrong now and again, but he really doesnt look like he knows how to put the ball in the net or he ever will do.
happy with derry tho, real pro with all the experience you need.

                    haha. How idiotic.

Derry was excellent against Barnsley, and if you dont think so watch the highlights on QPR player. With youth/2nd choice like Leigertwood around him i can imagine it wasnt the easiest last night!

Leon Clarke is harder to disagree with, awful last night but is regaining his fitness, perhaps he will get better.
Cant believe it, ive been PWOPER MUGGED ORF...

I was not happy with the Derry signing but thought he was very good against Barnsley, However pairing Legs and Derry is like pairing Legs and Mahon and we all know what happens when they were played together, IMHO, Legs has far more to offer at right back than in the middle.

I did not go last night but what it showed was the real lack of quality we have when you take out those 5 players missing last night.

Idiotic eh, well if you are happy with average then you got your wish. He may have been "better" against Barnsley, but that's only because he had much better players around him, which took the pressure off him to perform. But once you give him responsibility , he can't cut it.

As much as the 'idiotic' comment was a tad harsh, you've's arguement does hold water mate.

I would say the part of your comment in which I've highlighted could be said for every player. If you play in an able team, naturally, you'll perform better as it's easier for you to get on with your job. I think Derry, Fairlin and Taarabt compliment eachother massively, and I honestly feel they'll forge a CM partnership in which will tear most other midfields apart. Derry is there for the donkey work, that much is obvious, whereas Faurlin will spray the ball out to the flanks, as well as putting Taarabt through. Taarabt in turn will either break into the box, or play through balls into the forwards, which is why we desperately need a striker like Chopra.

Remembering we have Rowlands, who if fit can play in a similar role to Derry, I feel we are literally just those two strikers away from being a force in this league.
