  • Jason Scotland...

Looks like Ipswich are the front runners, but I wonder if we're one of the "few other clubs"??
    Personally, I rate him.

ROBERTO Martinez admits Jason Scotland may have played his last game for Wigan Athletic after confirming ‘a few clubs’ have registered their interest.

Ipswich Town are believed to be heading the chase for Scotland, who proved himself to be one of the deadliest strikers in the Championship with Swansea before joining Wigan last summer.

The Trinidadian has struggled for goals in the top flight, managing just one last term in the defeat at Fulham.

But the Tractor Boys are just one of a number of clubs who clearly still believe in his ability to do a job at that level.

“It’s not the first time that a few clubs have been in for one of our players,” Martinez told the Evening Post. “We’ll see what happens.

“It’s fair to say there is strong interest there from Ipswich Town, and a few other clubs have also asked us about Jason. It’s just a case now of sitting down with all the parties and working out what is the best move for Wigan Athletic.”

A Wigan perspective on news, sport, what's on, lifestyle and more, from your local paper the Wigan Observer & Wigan Evening Post.

    2005–2007 St. Johnstone 66 games (33 goals)
    2007–2009 Swansea City 90 games (45 goals)

    Nice tidy goal ratio(!)

Yeah, I was wondering if Scotland wouldn't be a better bet than Roberts given the £££ Jase is demanding. Roberts was a better player than Scotland is now but it's hard to say whether that's still the case once you factor in age and lack of regular football. Blackburn fans certainly don't seem to rate Roberts.
