  • Adel !

Over the years there have been many posts with people asking what was it like watching, Bowles and Marsh, as that is all they hear us old fossils gabbering on about. Saying that's what made this clubs history and its what were all about.

Well now to me your about to find out for yourself his name - Adel Taarabt

    Positives

    He is going to:
    • Leave spell bound
    • Have you the edge of your seat shaking your head in amazement
    • Have you talking about some of the sublime skill you have seen for hours, days and years
    • Score goals of quality (like Barnsley) that you will only ever read in Roy of the Rovers comics
    • Do tricks and skills in games that are worth the entry fee alone
    • Do passes that are 3 if not 4 steps ahead of the other players
    • Setup more chances for others to simply miss you believe possible

    Negatives

With all this talent and all the smiles and joy he brings, there is also the other side

    He is also going:
    • Shoot when he should pass
    • Take on a player one many and lose the ball
    • Dive when he should stay on his feet
    • Lose possession in dangerous places and cost goals
    • When having a bad game, still try all his tricks and fall flat on his face
    • Have you pulling your hair out in frustration as he tries to do it all himself
    • If you boo him, tell you to naff off as he is emotional and reacts (Bowles would react like that as well and he didnt care if he upset you either)

All of the above will happen in 1 game or over multiple games, but the one thing I can guarantee you is that after they have move on, you will soon only remember and talk about the good times.

My hero Stan, used to shoot when he should have passed. I remember asking him one time in the springbok after we lost and he didn't pass when he should have and instead had a shot and missed. His reply was, what was the point passing I have more chance of scoring against a team of 20 than that elephant has sitting 2 yards out with an open goal. I could argue as he was right, that elephant missed at least 2 good chances in the same game that Stan had set up.

The thing is we all forgave him, he didn't get booed in games he got encouragement, he didn't get slated by people just wanting old work horses as we all knew we left with smiles on our faces far more times than we left with tears.

Just remember – If you want more smiles than tears, more memories than blackouts you need to encourage in the frustrating times and cheer louder in the spell bound magical time that he will provide.

Oh yes. Also over the years Stan and Marsh won us far more points than we lost !

    Great post.

Adel will bring back the atmosphere to the ground, it already started yesterday.

Thats why we had great atmosphere in the sixties and seventies, Marsh, Bowles, great entertainers as well as great players.
    They seek him here.................

That's a well argued case mate.

Thought Adel looked less selfish than he has been in the past as well.

Except when he threw his toys out the pram because Heider took the penalty.

Brilliant post, I wonder if Paul Mason has anything to contribute to that

Cheers big ears that was a great read & for you to compare him to Stan the man who I never saw play is a great compliment to the lad. Neil Warnock is the perfect man manager for AT so great times ahead touch wood.

great read...has his minus points but his plus ones will outway those by a mile. seen stan playing plenty and even he could frustrate. nw will show the lad on to greatness imho. we know that the football won't be pretty at times but having the most skillfull player in this div will at least ensure that its not all hoof.......onwards and upwards!!
