I make my judgement on what I see every week. I saw the majority of this squad last season and they were awful. These average new signings are NOT going to suddenly make us a play off side.

Some people on this message board make me laugh. Take your rose tinted Rangers glasses off. I would love us to do well and get promoted, but sadly by looking at our squad and comparing it to others I can only see a season what we have seen in the last 3 or 4.

    WAKE UP, RANGERS FANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't be taken for a ride by spin.
Dave, that's your opinion. Not 'fact', just your opinion. I choose to believe Warnock in that he's looking to bring strikers in. He's not a fool and has been known in the past to rack and stack his forwards. He's looking fairly good for Taarabt, and I believe he'll sign two forwards on top of that. Why would he say so if this wasn't the case?. If one of those is Bednar or Moses, I think even you'd have to say that we're looking good. All you're doing is trying to take the p**s out of the fans who believe this. You like to moan, and you're not being a realist at all...Just being negative.

Plus, I can't see how you've 'tried to stay positive' at all as I don't remember ever seeing a positive post from you mate.

I'm not haing a pop at all mate as I respect your opinion, but it is what it is...an opinion. Nothing more, and nothing less.

We're all QPR and we all want what's best mate, but you just keep slating the club lately and I don't get it.

Let's be honest...You're looking forward to the season as much as anyone. We do this because we love it.

Cheer up mate...FFS, it's only August
    Your mum would love me...

Unpredictability is what keeps us all going -- you never know when you're going to see a great performance, and they are often unexpected.
That's why it's better than going to see a film, band or play when you already know the outcome is fixed.
Faurlin is my hero!!! Love him!!! #########

Ollie is recent proof of what good motivational managers can do with "average teams". I think NW is in the same mould and will get us higher than last season, and I don't have a problem if we don't quite make promotion this time.

Also, if Adel does sign, I'm betting we'll soon be seeing the last of his tantrums as NW will get stuck right into him, to improve him skill and player-wise.

Hammersmith, I am sure you are a lovely bloke but what exactly would make you happy, the realism is we are a small - mid size club who are on paper in a better financial position than many many many other clubs. We do though even when prices were cheaper average about 15,000 per home game, which quite frankly isn't enough to seriously challenge at a higher level. We do though have one of the best English managers around at the moment in charge, who is doing his best to get Rangers back to the higher level of football in his own way.
I honestly believe we will be there or thereabouts and it won't be for the want of trying if we don't quite make it. That is realism, no rose tinted glasses but I think the majority of fans can see what NW is trying to build and also the majority understand why the Mittals don't just pump in money after money after money.
Football is with regret not the same game anymore, I grew up with, todays news Man City's latest signing wants £180,000 a week to sign, is obscene and it is the likes of that, that is making impossible for clubs like ours to challenge with the bigger clubs.
So why berate NW he is I am sure doing his best to make us competitive and as for the Mittals, where exactly would we be without them, that is realism !

Sadly - this is my view too.

The players brought in (and I include Taarabt in that) simply aren't good enough for a top 6 place. Effectively we've replaced like with like and lost last seasons leading goalscorer to boot. Unless a decent striker (not Henderson, Fallon or any other donkey) comes in by the end of the window, it will be another season of mid table mediocrity. We won't struggle but we won't really challenge either. With the current squad we'll finish somewhere between 8th and 15th.

Trouble is after we bring in two strikers, Hammersmith R's will still be moaning. Its not being a realist at all, its being negative. the season's not even started.

Im a realist, and im confident we will secure Taarabt and get at least 1 decent striker in,I also think we will challange for a top 6 position.

So we still looking for forwards. So effing what? Better to wait for the right personnel at the right deal, than spend on more rubbish.

We have been busier than most teams in the market and there is still time to buy. Admitedlly, the signings so far aren't exactly "ST Sellers" but i believe that NW has bought wisely and strengthened in positions that were needed.

He still has time to get the forwards he wants. Terriblly negative post that unfortunately seems to be the norm for some people. Give him some games first then all you knockers can dish out the stick if it goes all #### up after 6 games.

Ps. Nodge: you really believe that Tarrabt isn't good enough for a team in the top 6 of the Championship? Think you should look at the squd lists mate of teams that finish in the top 6. He is better than that i'm sure.

He didn't say Taarabt isn't good enough mate. He said even with him, we're not good enough. I agree.

However, with a decent striker or two...we are. Just my opinion, of course.

Dont forget that the January window is there if we need to strenghten the team.

My optimism is based on wheter we get Two top strikers and a Taraabt type of player in a role behind them.

But the most important thing is that the club is a bit more stable throughout now.

But 1) I think we’re spending sensibly so that when (because they will) mittals at al leave, we don’t want to be in a no paddle situation down that bloody creak….not again!

                        2) Warnock has been there done it and got teams promoted. His record is up there with the best in this league. In my view he is the best at getting results in this league

                        3) When we went on our shocking run we lacked players to roll their sleaves up and get everyone to fight. We have those players in Derry and Hill. (not to mention the manager!)

                        4) We have some cracking players in faurlin, buzz (and hopefully adel). These 3 would (or should) get in every other team in the championship. We need likes of derry in midfield to enable them to play…bit like mahon was doing on our good run last season

                        5) Defensively we also look strong. People may point to Hall (as gorkks, hill and orr are a solid defence) but hall was a decent defender he has had too many injuries and something was up with him last season. Warnock has now made him captain so I’m expecting a cracking season from him

Every time Hall plays we concede at least 1 goal. Last season with him in the side we only kept 1 clean sheet, away at Scunny. Apart from that, when I see him in the team I always know we will always have to score 2 to win the game.

                          Exactly.

We are ONE decent striker away from really challenging. But as I said, with the present squad (inc. Taarabt) we are not.

I don't think that's particularly negative at all.

Hammersmith's psychological process (as is with many of us) is that by being so negative and pessimistic, emotionally he couldn't possibly go any lower once the season begins. Its a self protection mechanism to avoid further disappointment. Plus, what he fails to acknowledge and give credence to is NW's motivational ability. qprsteve made the same point above with regard to what Ollie achieved last season. Clough did the same thing on a bigger scale in the 70's, turning very average journeymen into champions of Europe. But some folk just NEED to be pessimists - its in their nature. By all means let them vent their spleens on places like this - the trick is don't allow it to bring the rest of you down to the same negative and cynical (NOT 'realist') level. :-)
