IFit is just about that, then no it is not major, so no reason why any player should cause an issue over it. It's not as if it's vitally important to his bank balance is it?

I cannot for the life of me understand why as soon as there may be a problem, why many people assume that it is our club that is at fault.

People were saying that 3 weeks ago.

          • Personally never understood the basis of signing on fees but if its agreed it should be paid then it seems natural it be paid when he signs, otherwise it ceases to be a signing on fee and instead something more like a bung. Or so it seems to me anyway.

Panning out exactly as I thought it would and as mentioned to a few who PM'd me over the summer.

Clubs agreed a fee and a deal early on - AT wanted to keep his options open and try to find a decent club in Spain and France that were willing to match his expectations. As predicted, that hasn't transpired and his options are narrowing with the season coming up very quickly.

2 year deal suits him as it essentially means he has limited value in 12 months time and is then again free to negotiate with continental sides in 18 months on a Bosman. IMO £1m is too much to pay for a two year deal in the current climate as that money is very unlikely to see a return.

He'll sign - I don't think there's anything else out there for him and find it all a bit sad that we're bending over backwards for a player who has made it clear we are some way down his pecking order. Surely the funds used to chase Taarabt would have been better invested in a Clinton Morrison, Robert Earnshaw, Jon Stead or Andrew Surman...

              IMO

I actually think is a very good point. Not good enough for a top team, newly promoted clubs will not gamble on this sort of a player.More interested in work work work grind etc.But a mid table team such as Fulham, a team that appears to have now established themselves,im surprised haven't come in for him.

If and when he signs, i'm sure he will do good job for us,and i hope he does come. But it does make you wonder, as Nodge has pointed out, could the money have been better used, in hindsight ?

                  • Don't think he is Pele and his petulance is definitely a cause for concern, but no better in this league for turning a game on a sixpence.
