  • Another Jay Simpson - This One About Joining Palace

Hey guys, as i said i would only come back here when there was any transfer information.

Well, Jay Simpson is having talks with George Burley tomorrow about signing for Palace and after initial telephone discussions he is hopeful of completing a deal for him.

So, considering he played for you last season just wanted to see what your thoughts are on him and is he decent?

    Thanks guys!

Some would want him here to be fair.

He would be good buy, but suspect he will go bristol City or even abroad.

he is a good goal poacher, but never play him out wide, he goes missing

Classic example of a 'goal poacher'. However, he often drifts in and out of matches.

Well, he is a decent player. He will not get 15 goals in your team though and if you do get him (doubt it because you've had this scenario with other strikers this summer) then it will be a good signing. He was quick during the start of the season and knew where the goal was, but by the end he was sloppy and slow. I doubt you have any chance of getting him, but if you get him then fair play to you. He's a poacher, dont expect him to be scoring goals individually, mainly tap ins from when the keeper's pushed it out

Decent player. Not as good as some say, but very capable. You could do far worse, that's for sure.

Well George Burley has had talks with him over the phone but he is actually coming to the training ground tomorrow to look around and then to the ground etc so hopefully a deal may be nearer than we think.

              We shall see.

As others have said he is good not great. Scored vital goals for us but did go missing when played on the wings but will poach goals as his positioning is very good. Would Wenger let him go if he genuinely thought he had it in him to be a star? No. Would I like to have him it at QPR? Yes, but not as a first choice option. Good player to give you options from the bench but not as a regular starter.

He was dangerous for 2/3rds of the season, but after that very average, not sure if that was to do with all the instability at the club. If you keep Ambrose then those two could work well together.

Playing a goal poacher out wide is hardly using a player to his best abilities is it?.

You think Lineker and Van Nistelrooy would have scored as many out wide?.

Shows what useless managers we have had.

Mmmm i can just imagine you typing this post out with a huge smug grin on your face.
Good luck to you if you sign him, i personnally think he could be a top player with the right manager guiding him, thats why i would of liked to of seen Warnock go get him.
