As i'm prob in the minority on here, in the fact that i dont rate matthew as highly as most.

I dont think wenger would have sold him to us if he thought that he would have a future as a prem player.

Wenger to me is a very shrewed judge of a player, has he ever released or sold any of his youth team players, and those players have since gone on to make it at the top level.

I could be wrong but i cant think of any.

Not making it at Arsenal is different to not making it in the prem, lacks pace yes, but reads the game well at c/b. People forget he was laid down with glandular fever last year, and was struggling with it all season. My opinion is with Hall he's our best footballing center half.

Not just at Arsenal, but any of their youth team players, sold or released in the last say five years, have any made the grade in the prem.

My point is, wenger is too shrewed to release a hidden gem.

Connolly makes too many mistakes, his judgement is poor, and he has to lay off the ball far better than he does.
Sometimes, I'm completely mystified by what others actually see in him. I mean, he 'aint a bad player overall, but no way is he gonna make it into my list of all-time great defenders that I've personally seen down the last 37 years, unless of course, there's a marked improvement this season, then, who knows?

Dont rate any of em top half championship center backs, all slow, not dominating enough in the air, that includes connolly.
