Spurs star Adel Taarabt open to QPR move
Jul 30 2010 By Paul Warburton

ADEL Taarabt revealed that QPR have been back for him in the last few days – but the midfielder doubts whether Rangers can afford his transfer fee.

The £5million rated Moroccan was a huge hit during his two loan spells for Rangers, including a goal against Preston that was rated in the top two of the Championship last season.

His dazzling performances in hoops garnered him lavish praise at Loftus Road, and the good news is the 21-year-old has already pleaded with Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp to let him go.

But Taarabt doubts very much whether the Premiership club will make it easy for Rangers to secure a permanent deal.

He said: “I know QPR want me – there has been contact this week. But I think Spurs want too much money for me and at the moment, I’m as lost as anyone else.

“And I won’t lie to you – I want to play in the Premiership. So. If a club from there was interested, I would have to take that seriously.”

For all that, the man who has seven caps for his country was impressed when Rs boss Neil Warnock came all the way to Marrakesh to ask if he fancied a permanent move to Rs three weeks ago.

Taarabt said: “I had a great season at QPR – and sometimes it’s better to go where you are really wanted.

“I’ve spoken to Harry (Redknapp) about leaving. He told me to go on tour with the team to America, and I did, and he’s asked me to wait a while and see what happens.

“They are my club, so what choice do I have?”

I don't know for a fact, but I'm betting we have probably only offered 1 million with some kind of add ons. Wish this had been sorted pre-season !!

Does make me laugh, with a week to the start of the season no Spanish or French sides come in for him so now adel wants to play in the prem, and no one wants him there then better to play were someone wants me!!
                We are Adel only option!
And 5 million for a player for a player who has 11 months left on his contract is crazy!!!
1.5m plus add ons is more than fair

He's worth £2m IMO, he will only get better and he is a match winner.

Just not sure if it is a good idea to sign a player who only sees us as a last resort. Having said that, I think Warnock is they man who can sort the guy's head out.

It may come as surprise to QPR fans but we are not the most attractive option to many of a player. Taarabt is holding out for top flight move somewhere and who can blame him, he knows we are going no where and if all else fails hopefully he'll sign for us.

Would AT be the first person to have a job on the back burner just in case the one he wants fall through, I do it all the time, its called keeping your options open.

Tottenham won't let him go on loan (which would be ideal for us). they're holding out to get as much money as they can for the guy.

They may loan him to us until end of August to keep in shop window (so to speak) or even until January. If no one comes in then we have him for 1.5m...imagine deal like that would be good for both parties then
